wonderful news about the Fest 2nd weekend residency! good to see that the ball-breaking has ended and the ball-blowing (hey, I didn't start it!) can resume... Now, how to request sesame seed-free muffaletta's for the wife (allergies) and not seem like an free-loading ingrate!
what's her position on olives?

Hey Mark......
Quick question -the information is up now under food & crafts for all of the fabulous things available at Fest and I was trying to figure out where you were going to be in contemporary crafts...... you're not listed on that part of the site (yet - I'm sure that anyone they have added since they began designing that page isn't listed yet and it will be updated soon) ...can you just give us your location in the interim?
(she asks impatiently - just trying to figure out what path she'll take to the Blues tent........or if I need to circle the tent to find ya and then go back to listen to music...lol)

Don't go to any trouble, Rosie! ;) We'll be fine - just better prepared (urp!) than last year... I didn't realize she'd tried to pick the seeds for a few seconds before realizing that it'd be easier to just eat the innards.
Her allergy to legumes & seeds is mild, but shellfish & nuts? Yikes... What really made us squirm was watching the Bobby Flay throw down with Serio's Deli, where we have yet to eat, only to find out that they've been "kicking up" the flava in their mortadella (?) with pistachios. All I could think of at that moment was the number of times we'd eaten muffalettas in the air on the trip home and never even asked if nuts were involved. "uh....ladies & gentlemen, we'll be making an unscheduled emergency stop somewhere because of the passengers in 12B & C..."
I thought mortadella always had pistachios? Otherwise, it's just bologna.

Yes you should watch that...mortadella with pistachios is not at all uncommon and comparatively inexpensive.
At least around here, most good Italian delis will sell a minimum of one type studded with black peppercorns and another with pistachio. So it may be easier to customize a muffaletta to avoid it.
(Swagster: It's the cubes of pork lard (the white spots) that really distinguishes it from Bologna. And, while I have never tasted it...I have heard that there is a variety made in Spain and Portugal that comes with embedded Olives in it....Wow.)

OK, let's bring this thread back.....
I need to get a count on approximately how many people are coming so I can order muffalettas and cold, cold beer.
I will have both styles of muffalettas (with and without) so please don't reenact the infamous Olive Wars of '08.
I'll try to accommodate all parties involved.
Thanks! :D

Jeff, Natalie and I will be there until Nat starts wanting to grab your glass! Actually, I think both Jeff's sisters will be along too as we're taking them to the airport that afternoon. So, 4 adults!

Create a new thread (can't add a poll to a new one). On the bottom, hit the checkbox for Yes Post a Poll. Then submit. On the next page, you can define the poll. Make sure you choose to allow names to be viewed, or else you won't know who said yes.
Or... Instead of a board poll, you could do an eventbrite, like Jenn did for the raffle patry. Or an evite. Or a facebook event page...

for those of you walking.....easiest way...
take the Ferry at the foot of Canal Street
When you get off the Ferry, walk to the left and follow along the top of the levee. Walk past the Old Point bar. Vallette Street will be next. Walk up Vallette 4 blocks. We are on the corner of Vallette and Eliza. Look for the Art Deco movie theater and the Threadhead banner.

Thank you to everyone for coming!
This was our biggest RosetreeFest yet.
I'm sorry that I didn't have the opportunity to talk with a lot of you...it seems that I was busy ;)
RosetreeFest is usually a time where I can meet new people too, but this year we had a lot of Raffle winners in to have their pieces made, so I didn't get to mingle like I usually do. I hope that everyone had a good time and met some new Threadheads.
Brenda and my mom both enjoyed meeting y'all!
Please post pix if you got some....btw someone left a camera case in the studio. I will bring it out to the Fairgrounds for claiming.
Have a wonderful Fest and stop by the booth this weekend! :D

Thanks for a great afternoon at Rosetree, Mark. Blowing a blue ball was a great experience, and yes, you were gentle and patient just like you said. Even when I demonstrated amateurish rolling/ twirling technique, you stepped in finished everything. Perfectly. I would definitely do it again...
