Just wanted to know if anyone has any input or thoughts on when and if the Funky Meters show at the House of Blues will sell out. Also wondering about the Galactic riverboat show. I have heard many things the past couple of years here on this board about theses big/small venue shows. Any and all info would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks again!!

Funky Meters will sell out. If you want to know how well the show is selling, call the box office here at HOB and ask. They will usually give you an idea. If you are planning on going, go ahead and buy the tickets. You will have no problem getting rid of them.

Last year's FM show at the Wolf was the first show to sell out. It is a much bigger room than HOB. It must be mentioned that it was a co-billed show with DTB though so that definitely sparked some major interest. The Galactic riverboat show was probably the second to sell out. The riverboat shows are always popular, but I've read a couple of times on the board that some people might pass this year with the economy the way it is. It's a little harder to get folks to fork over 50 bones after fees that Superfly is charging. That being said, there is no way that I'm missing Galactic with the Wolfman, Shorty and Big Sam. This will be as close to a guaranteed throw down that can possibly be made.

Quoted For Truth---Windowman knows what he is talking about---The f-Meters (at least the HOB shows) WILL sell out, long before the night of the show.

If you get your tickets, but then something else comes up, selling your extras will take less time than cracking open a fresh Abita.........

While we're on the subject, anyone have any wisdom on whether (and if so when) the Karl Denson/Dumpstaphunk show at Howlin' Wolf on 4/24 will sell out?

I figured that BOTH of these would sell out! Our krewe has some family headin down to new orleans in a few weeks, and just wondering if we can forgo buying tix til then. I know the riverboat is expensive and you gotta leave fest early that day, but I have never done it, and have been told by soooo many folks that it is a MUST, so i am doing it!!

In my experience, the riverboat shows sellout, but you can almost always find tickets that week or at the dock. You can't be late for the riverboat and you can't leave early to go somewhere else, so that causes some people to sell their tickets. I've been both a buyer and a seller for riverboat shows in past years, and I've never had a problem acquiring a ticket or unloading my extras.

As some have said, the economy may play a role this year, but I think that if people have already decided to come to Fest, they're not gonna be too budget-conscious. Nola, and particularly Nola at Jazz Fest, isn't exactly fertile ground for moderation!

Well consider adding me to the long list of the many folks that suggest it to you. It isn't the best place to see a show with it being packed, not exactly the best sight lines, the extremely low ceilings and pricey drinks but trust me, it is truely a unique experience and a definite must for people that have never done it. Last year was a little disappointing for the lone reason that the boat didn't sail. The Muddy was at a level that the Coast Guard deemed too dangerous for a passenger boat to shove off. It was still a great show and time.

The Funky Meters boat show in 2005 is one of favorite Fest memories. Both Brian Stolz and Ian played that show.

I figured I'd rather be safe that sorry, so I got my two tickets over the weekend. Like others have mentioned, if I change my mind/plans, I can always sell them! But, I'm now trying to wrangle my way into the Foundation Room (I went to elementary school and am still friends with a guy who is a member here in Los Angeles, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed!)!

You can buy access to the Foundation room for most any event at HOB. It is $50 per person in addition to the admission. It is actually a separate ticket but if you are willing to pony up the green you can also have dinner up in the Foundation room and just hang out and wait for the show. Call HOB here in N.O. and follow the prompts for the box office. You can do this online through livenation.com if you own a citi credit card, otherwise you can only do it through the box office but you can do it.

what's the (new) Howlin Wolf like for a sold out crowd? its such a big flat room, i dont think i would like it if the entire place was elbow-elbow.
