Ahh, the summer of '67. I bought that album, the first I ever bought. All were 45s before. And I bought it from the daughter of Stan Lewis, Susan. She was the "Suzie Q" that Dale Hawkins wrote the song about when she was a 2yo. She's still damn qute at 50. I also bought tickets to Jimi's concert there. Life changed in many ways when I was 12 years old, and not just musically.

Here's the recipe...amazingly I actually wrote down what I did. I took some ideas from different recipes I'd seen and made my own. Hate when I do that and forget what I did:
"Mr. Loaf"
1 T butter
1/2 med onion, chopped (about a cup)
1/2 bell pepper, chopped (1/2 cup)
3 cloves minced garlic
3 slices white bread, lightly toasted then chopped up small
10 butter crackers, crumbled
1/4 cup ketchup
2 T worcestershire sauce
1/4 cup milk
1 or 2 eggs (I used 2, but not that big)
juice of 1/2 a lemon
salt and pepper
2.25 lbs ground round
Topping: 2 T ketchup + 1.5 T brown sugar + couple dashes worcestershire.
Saute the onion and bell pepper in the butter till softened and carmelized. Add the garlic just for a minute or two. While these cool slightly, add the other ingredients (other than the topping) to the meat and mix. (Don't overmix, just as much as necessary.) Then add the cooked veggies and mix. Form this into a loaf in a 9 * 13 pan and bake at 350 for one hour. (I used a stone pan from Pampered Chef) Mix the topping stuff, spread on top and cook an additional 15 minutes. Allow Mr. Loaf to rest for 10 minutes or so before you cut into it. This turned out great.
