i agree saturn "no coco is a bummer" i was able to catch coco my first year 1997 at tower records, and i remember at first my thoughts were "well they are not very tight" then all of a sudden the sound board guys got things right and i was blown away, he was w/ dave easley and some gal on the. i try to catch him every year.

You know - i have to change the hotel room rates almost daily and many hotels have been dropping rates. But rooms are selling well across the board so keep that in mind. Use the hotels page under the travel section and use that as a guide. If you can get a lower rate - great. If they quote you a higher rate tell them you want the Jazz Fest rate.

Well, it looks like I'll be missing. I just bought a brand new car and I'm preparing for a trip to Venice and the Swiss Alps next week, so my fun bag is pretty full these days. Unless I can pick up a stoopid deal on a condo (and I haven't even looked into that yet), it looks like 2010 for me!

Thanx Lit! Someone's actually offered me a sublet on a 1-bedroom condo for the first week (Fri - Fri) for $800. The place sleeps 4, it has two stories and it is located 1/2 a block from LMF and HOB on Decatur. (The unit opens up onto the hot tub roof deck!) If I knew of someone willing to take the hide-a-bed and split the place with me, I might consider it...

(And John Malkovich doesn't suck!)

OH BOY...and Ol'Toones will be back and running for Jazz Fest. There are new owners but they are keeping the name Ol'Toones til after fest. They are working on getting the coupons from LMF back there as well.
Mom is trying to get some gigs there pouring Abita for all of us too!

It really will be a different Fest without you Ross. As time grows closer to fest time you will get that itch for sure.

Well thanks to festydave's timely tip, we got a room at the Marriott Courtyard on Julia. We stayed there in '05 and it was sweet. Mulattes is right down the street and if I can't sleep, I can go sit in my car and hear the show at the Howlin' Wolf. Woo Woo!

What a great day. I got a room for Fest, I'm going to see my favorite hockey team tonight, and somebody just brought me a free lunch. I'm buying a lottery ticket when I get off work.

i jus' love the adrenaline rush of waitin' on the priceline deals... gettin' it done the night before is the best...

and helpin' a hotel fill an open (free) room allows me to spend that much more everywhere else... i only took advantage of half of that great deal last year so I could save one weekend for that last second rush... i love it,.. but no cheapo here my friend

i recall sharin' half my room 2nd weekend last year for the price of one entrance fee to a low cost night show...

and surely,.. many can attest,.. that all that care,.. share in the bear...

I've done work for clients in exchange for a couple of units as contra, and I've been offered some really favorable deals as a result of what I do for a living, but they've been anything but "free". I also spend an average of $150-$200 every day I'm in town, so...

The fact is, I've been to the Fest 12 times in the past 14 years, and I feel pretty damn blessed that I've been able to make it even once. Unlike some people who can't make it this year because of money, etc., I'm simply opting out this year because there is an entire planet out there that I have yet to discover, and I'm really hoping to see a few lovely pieces of it this year.

I'm really gonna miss seeing and smiling with y'all this year, and although it is truly difficult to pry myself away from this site, I'm probably going to have to at some point, lest I make myself sick with envy!
