Ok, just heard from the head of our krewe that our lodging has been procurred! Anyone know anything about the Quarter House? Just got a GREAT deal on the Penthouse, yes i said penthouse. Just wondering how close this may be to the city bus line, as I need to get to Fest early to work thursday and friday second weekend. I know, I know, there are maps here and there, I guess my Michael Phelps fun made me lazy, lol. BIG FUN IN THE BIG EASY.....WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE EEEEEEEEE!

Kdogg, is ncfunk the head of your Krewe? The Quarter House was discussed in another recent thread, and he/she is apparently in the Penthouse too! (I sure HOPE it's the same Krewe.) I've stayed there several times, and it is fantastic....(look for the other thread!)

It's a half block to Canal St, where the Zydeco Special RTA bus to fest picks up. But I don't know how early that starts running. Plus, it drops at the Mystery St cab stand, which is the opposite side of the Fairgrounds from the employee/volunteer entrance. I'm thinking at least a mile walk, maybe more, to get back there.

I'd suggest finding the other folks working with you, and splitting a cab.

I knew Swag would come through for me!!!!! THANKS Swag!! Now to find out what time they start running. I figured that I would have a WALK...it is New Orleans. I would hate to have to pay 20 bucks for a cab, trying to make this on a budget, HAHA, yeah right!

Well, if you're a Krewe, the cab might make sense - it's a flat rate per scalp. I always just walked across Chartres to the Marriott and had one of the bellhops hail the taxi for me. The Sheraton is also just across Canal, so the Jazzfest Express is an option too...

And if you working the 10am shift, talk some of your krewe into going early. They can hang with us at Liuzza's til the gates open.

We are a krewe, but I am the only unemployed volunteer. I will be heading out there solo both mornings and then riding back on a cabshare with them. Was trying to avoid the double dip on a cab, kinda nullifies the volunteering for ticket to save money, but oh well, I will be sleep-deprived and enebriated mot of the time anyways, lol.

We were able to get a similar deal through the actual owner via craigslist. We will be in the penthouse saturday to saturday~! I dont want to divulge our rate as it wasnt my deal. Drop an email and I can give ya the info kdogg6977 at yahew dot com
