Any ideas where I might tour outside of N.O. I know someone suggested Houma swamp boat ride. Anything happening in Lafeyette in between Fest weekends?

If you want to check out stuff in La., visit some websites of local La. newspapers for stuff that is happening and get in your car and go to them. Don't be afraid to stop along the way if you see something that looks interesting.

One year we rented a car and drove about 45 minutes to an area where we hiked in the swamp (on boardwalks), it was great, we saw lots gators (at a safe distance), birds, and a variety of plant life. I think it was called Baritaria (?) reserve - it's part of the Audubon national park. There was a little naturalist office with info about the environement. It was great to get out in the natural environment without being on a touristy loud airboat. Very refreshing change from fest and clubs. Course I don't know how K***** affected it.

This part of the Jean Laffite National Parks is open, parts of the other five parks are not. This is a great spot to spend a few hours away from town. Take your camera.
