O.K., I've been off the boreds for way too long now. Until late last week, it didn't look like Mr. Soul and I were going to be able to make our annual pilgrimage to NOLA for JF. Couldn't quite bear to chat about it while thinking we wouldn't be able to attend. I was "gently" reminded by Tangled Up In Blue to get back to the boreds quickly. So here I am. Happy to report that Mr. Soul has worked quite a bit a magic to get all 4 nights of hotel expenses taken care of via "Hilton Honor Points". I'm WAY psyched about seeing The Queen of Soul, as well as Bonnie Raitt, Emmylou Harris, Cowboy Mouth, The Neville Brothers, Marcia Ball, Anders Osborne, Kermit, etc...etc....etc.....
Can't wait to find out who the TBA will be.
So, which T-heads will we be lucky enough to get a peak at 2nd weekend?

YEAH! Can't wait to see you, too! And, yes, Mr. Soul is amazing. $30.00 for 4 nights. We've always had to pay for Friday and Sat. nights in the past. Somehow this year, we got to use points for all 4 nights. More $ for beverages!......and crawfish bread.........and nite shows!!!.....

Looks like I'm going to have to find a really good hotel deal in order to do either, or both weekends. If that doesn't happen, I'll have to cherry pick days to be at the Fairgrounds, and just drive back and forth, missing out on the night shows and the associated fun.
That's still better than missing out entirely, of course, so I'm not whining. I drove back and forth for years, happily. But I've spent two years in a row now doing the whole enchilada, and I've gotten spoiled.
Has anyone ever stayed at a hotel near the airport? The rates are always cheap, and the parking is free. I'll have a car, and be able to drive wherever I want to go. And if I find myself too slurged (and that doesn't happen very often), I can always take a cab. It's an alternative I've been considering...

I think St. Louis Barb often stays out that way. She may be able to give you some tips on hotels there.
If something cheap doesn't come up by March, I'll be staying out in Metarie for the first time. Since we don't go out at night, it ain't no thing but i'd rather be in town. Last year, I could walk to Mother's. now that was sweet.

I don't think that some of you realize that it looks completely different without the JF set up :-)

Hugs sweetie..I remember the first time we talked at Threadhead central last year and then the next thing I know my family is celebrating the 4th of July in your back yard in Chicago. Great guy you are!
There is always next year, perhaps another trip to your fair city but one way or another I will see you again dancing and living large real soon I hope.

Belle- so sorry u can't make the trip. Totally understand. Times are tough! If not for Mr. Soul's "traveling day job" there's NO WAY we would be able to! Thanks for hanging on the boreds, though. I should've stuck around, too, and will make a more concerted effort to stay this time! We should definitely catch a Va. or DC show sometime!....We really wanted to catch Ruthie Foster in C'ville next weekend, but it's not going to happen. Let's keep an eye out for something fun!
