Howdy Fellow Threadheads -

I know there may not always be agreement on things political on the boreds, but this group has been fighting to keep attention paid to New Orleans, the Gulf Coast and those most affected by the '05 storms.

In that vein, I put this out there for your consideration and possible action to keep the Feds investigating what went wrong with Katrina and the government's response to it. When we know better, we can do better, right?

Thanks!

"Ten months ago, Senator Joe Lieberman blasted the White House for obstructing a Senate committee's investigation into the federal response to Katrina. Now he controls that committee, but instead of forcing the White House to participate, he's called off the investigation altogether!

Lieberman is side-stepping his responsibility to hold the White House accountable and betraying the citizens of the Gulf Coast. I've joined ColorOfChange.org in calling him out and demanding that others in Congress conduct a full investigation if he won't. I wanted to invite you to do the same:

Before last years' election, Lieberman talked like someone who cared about the people of the Gulf, and about accountability. Then, Bush helped Lieberman win re-election in November-- bringing Republican contributors to his campaign and pulling support from Lieberman's Republican challenger. Now it seems Lieberman cares more about protecting the White House.

Worse, no other elected official is stepping up to do what Lieberman won't. It's Congress's duty to exercise oversight over the White House, and when there's a failure--especially a massive failure like the one we saw with Katrina--Congress has a duty to investigate what went wrong. In the case of Katrina, too many questions remain unanswered, and too many lives remain turned upside-down, to simply move on.

Join me in reprimanding Lieberman and demanding that Congress conducts a full investigation into the White House's response to Hurricane Katrina.

Funny, I would think that Leiberman would stick to being on top of things down here--keeping Bush's feet to the fire...doesn't he have a grandkid that goes to Country Day???

Anybody looking to our elected officials to do the right thing is destined to be sorely disappointed. Storyville in it's prime didn't have as many whores as Washington,D.C. does today.

Lieberman has betrayed everything else he said he stood for. Unfortunately, it's the Gulf Coasts turn.

Just remember, he was re-elected by the state that gave us the whole Bush fam-damily (no matter what they say).

Gotta stick up for the professionals in Storyville! Showed up on time, took care of their constituents, left folks with a smile.
Has anyone in the Bush administration ever done that?

It's just so sad that's it true.

I am too (as Lieberman, not to mention McCain are complete sellouts - to be kind), but in the meantime - We, the People need to use whatever venues we can to make our voices heard . . . whether or not the bastiches will do anything is a whole other kettle of fish, but I continue to feel that I have to try.

That was the motivation behind my posting of that thread . . .
