The Super Bowl is here in Tampa. The cops are arresting the homeless so they won't affect our image.

Tampa, Florida- Tampa police officers say the Super Bowl draws a couple of unwelcomed guests - prostitutes and the men who solicit them.
"The sun rises in the east and hookers come to town for the Super Bowl," says Captain Bret Bartlett with the Tampa Police Department.
To combat the problem, Tampa police officers are playing offense this week. The play call is a prostitution reverse sting. On this first day of the operation, officers tackle the men receiving the services and make 13 arrests in a few hours.
Police officers warn solicitation can lead to other crimes. "Also, possibly, whoever is running these girls [can] come in your room [and] rob you. We'll take your report that you've been robbed but not feel your pain, because you walked into this one, walked into the left hook. The message to you is don't do it or be ready for the consequences. You'll get caught," says Bartlett.
Officers say prostitutes are blitzing the market by using the internet. Many are promoting themselves on Craigslist. "These events draw large numbers of ladies into town. We know because we see gigantic a uptake in internet activity. The ladies post they're coming into town," says Bartlett.

How did the world get by before craigslist? Have fun with all of the activity in your town. We used to have The Big Game here before the NFL decided our Stadium is inadequate (not enough V.I.P. boxes and suites). Its a Big $$ week if you work in hospitality.;)

Mother of Christ, somebody needs to do something about improving the quality of prostitutes in Tampa. This is disgraceful. This is the Stupor Bowl for Godsakes.

Well, Moon,
I'd like to defend our Tampa Bay area adult service industry professionals... ;) But since you mention it - this IS the Super Bowl week after all... And lots of out-of-towners are trekking here for that event.
I have read that Joe Redner, strip-club king and "Father of the Lap Dance" (don't ya just love that title?) opens his doors wide to the visiting workers, and selects only the cream of the crop to perform in his clubs... Here's an excerpt from an article that ran in last week's St. Petersburg Times:
[Redner will keep the Mons open around the clock all week, closing it only for housekeeping. (Now and then, someone must polish the pole.)
Longer hours require more dancers. Weeks ago, the Mons started getting calls from out-of-town women wanting work.
"We tell them to come on down, and we'll take a look at them," said Redner, who often drops by the club to say hello, slap a butt or get a hug or two. "If we have extras, we'll send them to other clubs. We take the cream of the crop.''
Dozens will simply appear at the door, ready to go on stage.
Local dancers, told to welcome the carpetbaggers, will do so, hoping Super Bowl brings riches to share.]
End of excerpt.
So, I'm guessing (hoping?) that those mug shots are the out-of-towners who didn't make the cut... :o
Anyway. What I meant to say, is: I'll get right on that!
freebo: Working hard, so you don't have to. :D
And in case you want to do further research, here's the link to that newspaper article: http://www.tampabay.com/features/events/article970223.ece
Damn! A 43 yr old stripper made 6 grand in 4 days. That must be some lap dance.
Awright freebo. You're my eyes and ears down there. I expect a full report at Fest with pics.

My favorite quote from that article:
"People figured out that lap dances do not advance the decline of western civilization,'' interprets Luke Lirot, Redner's attorney.
As wierd as it sounds, Redner is a First Amendment champion around here. Think about the many challenges to 'Freedom of Expression' that result when folks get their panties in a wad over strip clubs...
What's that? Bad analogy? OK, then.
Seriously: I think Joe keeps Luke on a full-time retainer, and he's frequently in the news... defending challenges to rights guaranteed in the US Constitution.
What's that? No mention of lap dances in the Constitution?
Dang. OK then, what about the Bill of Rights?
Huh. Nothing there, either?
Hmm...
Fine. But I'm sure they MEANT to include them... Or would have, if only Joe had been at those Continental Congress meetings.

PETA should also be stressing the health issue. Let's be honest; if people didn't eat steak, would all those steers be around anyway?
