Pedro Knight, 85, spouse of singer Celia Cruz (also deceased), passed away this weekend in California.
Back in the Cuban heyday 0f the 50's he played with, Sonora Matancera, a huge big band of the times.
I had the opportunity to see him play a song or two during Celiz Cruz' performances, one in Los Angeles and once in NOLA at House of Blues (maybe '01 during Jazzfest). It was so clear that they loved music, the sharing of their music and that they loved each other.

Oh by the way, she was in her 80's when i caught the NOLA concert, I wore my SAS old lady comfortable shoes because I knew I'd be on my feet all night...she PLAYED HER ENTIRE SET IN 3 INCH HEELS, and the only thing she took off were her earrings!!! Now that's freakin' dedication!
