Nope, CafePress doesn't have one (as I've used them in the past for lagniappes) . . . but a great button site that Susan has referred to us, and I've also used very happily) DOES have a Threadhead discount!!! :D

I don't remember their name though at the moment (I've been watching football and dinking wine, sorry) . . . Susan??

Is it www.buttonworks.com?

I like them alot. I've used them for 3 years, since the thing took my buttonmaker. :( One year they made double the amount of buttons that I ordered (their error) and I got them for free. Very fast shipping too.

I just got a reply back from my inquiry about the discount for this year:

Yes, the coupon code is there and updated to JFest09, (the JFest08 is still active as well) with a 15% savings.

The cart it operates through is new (and super complicated on our end) but should operate perfectly. One thing about the new cart though is that it sometimes throws out even wackier shipping quotes, and while we work to make it operate right, my best recommendation is for people to stick with 1st class mail shipping regardless of button quantities.

Steve

If you have any questions, Steve's email is buttonstore at aol dot com.

I'll be glad to help with info re: ordering, if anyone needs it. rowdymom81 at aol dot com

Chrissa et al - if you are doing any kind of printing I highly recommend GEM printing in Metairie, LA they have a website http://www.gemprinting.com

they are local, they are friendly, they do great work, and they have a lot of good ideas.

I have done stuff in person and over the phone/web.

It's just another option to add to everyone's list.

I'm using them for my lagniappe this year

It's when the bridesmaids and servers pull the ribbons on the cake to get the charms. Nothing at all like a tractor pull.

My sister-in-law (the near-perpetual spinster) had a charm bracelet at one time with all her cake pull charms on it. More than one thimble!

Is that a Southern Tradition? Maybe just one I've never heard of.

I honestly don't know. The older I get, the more things that I discover are regional. I was in high school before I realized that Mardi Gras wasn't a universal school holiday.

The cake pulls are sort of like the baby in a King cake. Baked or stuck in the cake to be "discovered" by the participants. Most of the cake pulls I know of recently have been done at the bridesmaid luncheon instead of the wedding. I guess throwing the bouquet is enough at the actual wedding.

Here ya go....from Wiki....

Cake pull

A Cake Pull is a Victorian tradition at weddings in the Southern United States where tiny silver charms attached to satin ribbons are placed inside part of the wedding cake. At some point during the wedding reception, female attendants (typically the single ones) gather around the wedding cake and simultaneously pull the ribbons which are attached to the charms from the cake.

The charms represent future children, travel, wealth, marriage or the dreaded thimble, predicting that the puller will be a spinster.

The charms are most often found today at the Bridesmaids Luncheon, but charm pulling has also spread to bridal showers and is no longer limited to the original categories.

Must be more specific to this area of the South, I lived in Georgia (and was even in a wedding there) and have never heard of this before . . . sounds interesting though. Is there a food fight with the torn up cake after the pull?? ;) :D

I had cake pulls on our wedding cake, but then we had a second line with umbrellas & hankies for all the guests to Rebirth's Do Whatcha Wanna. Boston didn't know what hit them! ;)

LOL! That is SUCH an odd tradition, though I do love goodies in things! ;) :D

Does it totally destroy the cake before you're distributing it to the guests though???

LOL! No, the charms are between usually the top & next layer with little ribbons sticking out. People pull them out carefully (or should), and you'd never know there was anything there.

I have a CafePress question: I was about to place an order for a Mystery Street Records shirt and I noticed the THR Foundation apparel, which I had never seen before. It is also very nice and I was thinking of ordering something with that logo too, but the items on the THR Foundation apparel page are all listed as THR Holiday CD items, even though the designs are entirely different. And when you click for a larger view of some of the items, the THR Foundation logo shows up on the front, but the THR Holiday CD design shows up on the back. I am guessing that this is a mistake, but I am uncomfortable placing an order that is identified as a THR Holiday CD product when what I want is the THR Foundation item. Does CBH or anyone else know how I can order a THR Foundation item and be assured that that's what I get, and not a THR Holiday CD item? Thanks!

You are correct. That would be a mistake. I'll go take care of it. Thanks for the head's up...

They have been corrected. The name wouldn't have mattered. You would have gotten the right thing since CP goes by numbers BUT you would have gotten the wrong image on the back. It has all been corrected now. Let me know if you see anything else that seems wrong. Thanks!!

Thank you for the quick response and action--and for creating so many cool designs for THR.

No problem. I'm more than slightly embarrassed I let the wrong design on the back slip by though... that's what I get for copying the collection of products in the other "store" and not double checking everything.

Thanks again for questioning it.

Hey CBH:
Do any of the THR designs have front and back logos? (small on the front left and large on the back?) I can't tell from the page. If not, would that be a possible addition?
Thanks!:D

I'm not CBH, but that's my favorite style of shirt too, so I was looking for the same thing when I bought the one I already own. I don't think there is a THR design like that with a logo on the back, but it is a light colored (light gray), short sleeve THR t-shirt with the small original logo the front left; and on the back it says (in large print) something like "Rebuilding New Orleans...one song at a time," and then it has the THR website address at the bottom. I think you can get than design in any of the light colors (white, light gray, light blue).

The THR Foundation designs have shirts with small logos on the front left and larger logos on the back. That is likely my next purchase (along with a Mystery Street Records shirt).

I think they all do... except for the dark shirts. For some reason, they can't print on the back of those. If you click on a shirt, the next screen will allow you to see what, if anything is on the back.

Edited to add: If you want a combination that's not there, let me know. I can set up something different in another "store".
