I see your game Swag, you're trying to distract from the Swag daddy allegations based on the fest fat to the similarities with Rosie :)

It was a good concert, got a little chilly, but we were well bundled.

Damn girl! That's not how I pictured an Ozo concert! lol! Baby Nat looked adorable all bundled up though :)A member of Ozo at one point said, "We've never played a show like this. It's snowing and everyone's drinking Pabst!"

Opener Jay Nash, a former Jackson Hole resident and avid skier, would recount in the gondola line the next morning that the storm took on a magical quality, well aware that in a ski town snow tops the list of essentials.

The snow definitely brought up the energy level, the building anticipation of what would be on the mountain the next morning. Hmmmm. Sound familiar anyone? Building anticipation?

We can never know about the days to come
But we think about them anyway
And I wonder if I'm really with you now
Or just chasing after some finer day.

Anticipation, Anticipation
Is making me late
Is keeping me waiting

And I tell you how easy it is to be with you
And how right your arms feel around me.
Bit I rehearsed those words just late last night
When I was thinking about how right tonight might be.

Anticipation, Anticipation
Is making me late
Is keeping me waiting

And tomorrow we might not be together
I'm no prophet, I don't know natures way
So I'll try to see into your eyes right now
And stay right here, 'cause these are the good old days.

I wish that there could of been some gigs like that during the 2 months I spent living near Ron Jeremy ranch whis was just out of Park City, but alas no luck.Im thinking that the Gigs would have to be in the middle of the day and work would have interfered anyway.

That cooler is a very important part of JF. I have a strange attraction to it. I wonder if the recording is on iTunes? It might be a good way to earn some extra bucks for the foundation. After a day at fest several of us meet at the Gentilly entrance until we are all together so we'll hear it repeat for 15 minutes. You'll see several people lip sinking to it as they walk out!

I'm serious about finding the recordings. It's not something that I would play often, but it would be awesome to play it on a small boom box at a Fest party while the Fest music is jamming on the big stereo system!

Fried Pork Chop Sammich & Pork Sausage (classic Italian style) ...... tried for Boudin, but the pictures weren't very appetizing. I've eaten a lot of Danish in my day ... never thought of Pork!!

Roast Pork Bao is a Dim Sum must!! Kinda Chinese Danish. If Jews eat Chinese on Sunday, do the Chinese eat Deli on Sunday??? ;)

So, here's my situation..

The friends who were coming over to spend the first weekend with me have decided to come over second weekend instead..

Which is fine, except I have another friend who is planning on crashing with me second weekend, which means the hotel room is going to be a bit cramped..

That means now I have space for the first weekend. I have another friend, who was coming for the first weekend and planning to crash with a guy who lives there, but now the girlfriend of the guy who lives there has decided to visit him first weekend. He has space for all of them, but she's major league psycho, so my friend now wants to stay with me, especially since he wants to come a day early to go to the Brass Band Blowout at the Howlin' Wolf, which is fine except I know the psycho chick will show up too and put a crimp in everybody's good time.

I don't really care. I'm on such a high during Fest that everyone's drama doesn't bother me at all. But if you run into me during fest, and there's some kind of odd vibe circling around, I apologize.

THAT's the boys in Sharde Thomas (Otha Turner's granddaughter) Rising Star drum and fife band. Mississippi Hill Country primitive blues with drums and fife and Sharde's lovely voice. They are also at 6:48 and that's Sharde at 7:00. They're a couple years older now. She's a freshman in college. So glad you're enjoying it, '. Just wish it didn't have the big silent gap in the middle. :D

They don't play every year but you can come to Mississippi to Kenny Brown's picnic or Sunflower river fest and see them any summer. :D You can also see Cedric Burnside and Lightnin Malcolm 2nd Sunday. They're MS Hill Country boys. Lightnin is in the festivalitis slide show. He's blonde and is playing drums in the picture. Here's a little history and a cd review:

The City of New Orleans
by Steve Goodman

Riding on the City of New Orleans,
Illinois Central Monday morning rail
Fifteen cars and fifteen restless riders,
Three conductors and twenty-five sacks of mail.
All along the southbound odyssey
The train pulls out at Kankakee
Rolls along past houses, farms and fields.
Passin' trains that have no names,
Freight yards full of old black men
And the graveyards of the rusted automobiles.
CHORUS:
Good morning America how are you?
Don't you know me I'm your native son,
I'm the train they call The City of New Orleans,
I'll be gone five hundred miles when the day is done.

Dealin' card games with the old men in the club car.
Penny a point ain't no one keepin' score.
Pass the paper bag that holds the bottle
Feel the wheels rumblin' 'neath the floor.
And the sons of pullman porters
And the sons of engineers
Ride their father's magic carpets made of steel.
Mothers with their babes asleep,
Are rockin' to the gentle beat
And the rhythm of the rails is all they feel.
CHORUS
Nighttime on The City of New Orleans,
Changing cars in Memphis, Tennessee.
Half way home, we'll be there by morning
Through the Mississippi darkness
Rolling down to the sea.
And all the towns and people seem
To fade into a bad dream
And the steel rails still ain't heard the news.
The conductor sings his song again,
The passengers will please refrain
This train's got the disappearing railroad blues.

Good night, America, how are you?
Don't you know me I'm your native son,

Riding that very train on the way down April 23rd via connection with the Lakeshore in Chicago....every time I do this I think of Steve's song, sometimes I hum it, especially when sitting at breakfast in the diner. I hear the domed sightseeing car is back on The City Of New Orleans...the ride throught Mississippi and Louisianna wetlands is one of the highlights of the trip especially as it signifies that we are getting closer to that Fantasy of Festdom, that Lagniappe from the Land of Dreams, The Queen City of Culture, Where America goes to Dance , New Orleans and the 40th Annual Jazz & Heritage Festival.

WOO TO THE HOO CAN YOU TELL I AM READY!

We went to Chicago before Fest in '05 .... The City of New Orleans is a great route. We're on the Sunset Limited from LA. We still sing the song since we're on our way to NOLA!! We got our Dome car back last year!!

I think the movie was pretty good ... we'll figure out a way to send it out.

Safe travels and great festing to all threadheads! Sadly we won’t be joining you this year – She Who Must Be Obeyed is still out of work. The good news is, She has a second interview the week after Fest, so She’ll be using Her time at home to prepare a presentation. I’ll be using it to encourage Her. Somebody sip a Sazerac for me, somebody else Rock’N’Bowl, somebody else chow down on a fried oyster po’boy, and EVERYBODY relax into the generous vibe of NOLA and JazzFest.

Steve used the file he used for our CD last year - made it a WAV file. I used Windows Live to make the movie & uploaded to YouTube. I got the "you can't use the music" email a few hours later. The song was recognized and use denied by WMG (Warner Music Group). Big Brother Bot is listening.
