They announced today where I work that there was going to be layoffs, wage decreases and contract renegotiations. I could see it coming. That's one of the reasons I have not made concrete plans for Jazzfest.

No matter what, I will be at the Fairgrounds for some of it. I can drive back and forth on certain days if I I have to. But I've done the whole enchilada for the past couple of years, and really want to do it again.

That's cool MzJ. Lots of Transplants from here to there, I've got a few dozen cousins all over the left coast myself. One thing that I'm sure your transplant will verify...Rochacha is a great comfortable, affordable family town..but once they get away from the cold and snow and ice and cold and more snow and slush and then even more snow, it's hard to come back for good to the North Shore of America unless it is for our most beautiful and lush summer season. Fall is luscious here too.

I'm spending the weekend going through seed catalogs and planning my garden. It's what I do in January and February to keep sane. That and shovel my driveway. And dream of Jazz Fest.

...I admire y'all for living where it snows. I do not know one little ding dang thing about snow or living in it.
However, I can take you to beautiful and peaceful deserts, sand dunes, rocky hills where you can see bighorn sheep and roadrunners~the desert is beautiful, but she is as unforgiving as the snow. We do seed catalogs too, my Honeyman is a dirtscratcher, this year I'm going to try to make a tomato tart outta the homegrown 'maters...yummy, good pastry, tomatoes and a slightly sweet, basil-y glaze~

sad part about here in Charlotte, NC....we got the cold, but none of the fun white stuff! i love taking a snow day when i see a flake!
