View Full Version : Anyone want King Cake?

I was just online searching for Randazzo's Kingcake shipping for some out of town family.
After seeing the prices... I figured I could just do it myself for a lot less!
Small cake, Standard Mailing Container from USPS, Priority 2-3 day Shipping = $25.00.. maybe I'll throw in a few pair of beads like the fancy online stores.
Anyway.. I'm gonna go to the bakery on Monday or Tuesday.. I can pick up extras. Shoot me an e-mail if you're interested. We can work it out thru paypal? cantrellclack@bellsouth.net

I forgot the name of the place, but I think it's in LaPlace, has a "Zulu" king cake that is chocolate w/pecans & is just amazing. Aside from that Randazzo's is the hands-down best and they have a caramel w/pecans that is verrrrrry good too.

We've always had King cakes at our Kroger. If they sell well and the women in the bakery are in a good mood, they do fruit fillings, struesel toppings, cream cheese, caramel, whatever they have available I guess since it's extremely random what they'll have other than the regular. The worst part is that they now pack the baby, crown and beads in a separate little bag that comes with the cake.

Someone brought a king cake to work today. I had a little slice and it was sure nothing like the cakes i've had in nola. mama's pic of one is perfection. Oh, and the baby was still taped to the lid. No one remembered or knew to put it in side.

Nothing warms the insides more than a warmed piece of king cake with a cup of coffee.
Let me clarify.. I'm just offering to do the shipping. These are Randazzo's King Cakes.. the best in the land IMHO. I'm gonna pick them up and go straight to the post office. A small one sells for $12.99 + tax and I can priority ship any where in the US for $10.00.

We just finished off a Rouse one tonight!;)
We were in Rouses a couple of Saturdays ago & they had numbers taped to the floor in the aisles. They announced that whoever was standing on a number when the employee came around would win a king cake. David said, "I'm going to stand on #24". Me, I was looking for smoky paprika and didn't even know I was on a number and won the cake. :)

Long time no post... Hi everyone!
Though I am currentlyin NO (more treatments), King Soopers (Krogers owned)
in Denver Metro area carries their brand fresh baked King Cakes.
Unfortunately they are just the plain cinnamon with the white
sugar icing and purple, yellow and green sprinkles.
A prepackaged little baggy has a baby and 1 pair
of beads in it. Not too bad but they taste so much better in NO. Love the cream cheese one. Anyone recommend the best in Metarie/Kenner area?
Rouses is way too sweet and too much filling. Is Jim Gambinos (Veterans Blvd near Don's Seafood Hut) any good? Best place for Doberge? Saw the recommendations posted somewhere before but can't find now.
Thank you ! ! ! Happy Mardi Gras Season.!
See anyone at Riverfront LundiGras? Email me.

I prefer the doberge from Maurice on Hessmer in Metairie. Good king cakes in Metairie/Kenner from Frances' bakery, Manny Randazzo (also sold at Danny & Clyde's), Haydel's on Jefferson Hwy and Chez Pierre, the best Vietnamese-owned French bakery in LA. The original McKenzie's king cakes are available at Tastee Donut stores. I bought one from Whole Foods today because our son is allergic to artificial coloring. Gonna go cut me a piece right now...:)

That's one I have not heard of, Jenn. Their name could be a good setup for humor. Half-kidding about Chez Pierre, but they are out in my neck of the woods and their stuff is really good. Remember the Chantilly cream fruit filled cake I brought over for dessert? It was from there.
