I read that Dooky's has reopened. Has anyone eaten there yet?
Their 3 Course dinner was one of my faves (Mamere's Crab Soup, Smothered Veal, Bread Pudding).

I would love to hear if anyone has gone if they have re-opened! Back in the day, my ex used to take me there, I think he and Leah had something goin on! He would make sure we took her a neat "foodie" gift from San Diego, and he always made his way back to the kitchen to look her up.
She was always so happy to see him (and me too I think) and made sure to come out and make sure we were happy. She is a genuine person and a sweet lady...and man can she cook!
I have a lovely signed cookbook from her and actually nice memories of her dining room and staff. (Mr. "Anti fun" and I are no longer married...thank the Good Lord for sumptin!)
If there is a krewe interesting in going during Jazzfest count me in!!
(I know some folks had been and didn't have great dining experiences in the past, but I'm hoping it was a fluke)
hmmmm...fried chicken and sticky sweet 'taters....yummm!

Michelle and I had the pleasure of meeting and speaking to Ms. Leah during the gumbo fest. She is such a sweet lady. She could not have been nicer and i think if we had stood there for an hour she would have still been talking to us. I remember her saying all anybody has to do is tell her what you want with your meal before coming in and she would be sure to have it. How cool is that?

Had a great dinner there with a conference group last June. (I think they opened up just for us). ms Leah was the most gracious lady, sharing stories of when the place first opened all the way up thru Katrina, the flood and rebuilding. Think she's in her 80's... I just had to give her a hug and thank her for being her. Talk about your steel magnolias! Oh and the meal was yummy too!

We ate at Dooky Chase many fests ago and had a great experience. At the end of our late dinner we went outside to catch a cab. There were none to be found. After waiting about 10 minutes Ms. Chase came out with her grandson and told him to "drive these good people where ever they need to go". All 8 of us crammed into her grandsons SUV and he took us back to the Marigney. The grandson thanked us for getting him out of clean up duty for the night.
