Nice photos! Deni, I went to a few prospect1 venues last week when I was in New Orleans. It was inspiring. I visited the places in the Lower Nine and then ran out of time. Do it. Go to their website for the shuttle schedule, list of venues, artists, etc. It's all free.

I hope to get a lot more "postable" pics this year; my sigificant other knows a number of musically inclined folks, and always wants to make sure it's cool with them, before I post anything on flickr.

For Dumpstaphunk fans, there's a dedicated set at http://www.flickr.com/photos/fantailmedia/sets/72157606697830185/

Great stuff, Fantail. You have a terrific eye. Your "throwback" B&W film shots really embrace their subjects. Shooting film in this digital age is the visual equivalent of throwing a warm piece of vinyl on the turntable - familiar, impactful and straight from the soul. I shot as a volunteer for the NOJHF Foundation in 2008, after many years on the other side of the rail (www.jimbrockphoto.com). If you didn't pursue it this year, you would be great for 2010, as you clearly have a love for the event and the artists.

The film stuff is my "new old" bad habit, although I doubt I'll bring any film gear to fest this April/May. Given the hundreds of (digital) exposures I made last year (and notice I only posted a couple on flickr), it would be WAAAAY too expensive. I probably made a couple dozen exposures at Aaron's gospel tent show alone. Never mind the goofy crowd stuff I snapped.

Also, there's the issue of my patience working with vintage (and sometimes quirky) gear, as well as the impracticality of flying with film, in these post 9/11 days. Vintage (junk collecting) gear is a BAD habit of mine, as seen at

Having said that, I'm glad I rediscovered film, complements of a friend who gifted me with a working Olympus 35 DC (rangefinder) last summer. That's what I what I shot those B&W "Dumpstaphunk and Grandmas" tour shots with, seen on flickr.

If you like the B&W film stuff, there's more at http://www.flickr.com/photos/fantailmedia/sets/72157605921264985/ .

I'm especially fond of the horn shots at
