I only WISH I could love Tab. :o I'll just have to make do with his music.
Mamaroux said that Tab's mama says she has 5 more like him at home. Mama Benoit, bring 'em all to the fest. For sure we can put them to good use. ;)

I'm a fan but not just crazy for him. His set at King Biscuit blues fest in helena, ark aka Arkansas blues and heritage fest, was off the hook for me this year. He was jammin big time. I do love his mama though. One time we were seeing him in a club at eureka springs blues fest. He opened for Castro. We were standing. When Tab's set was over, this lady came up to us--very pretty and young looking- and said, I'm tab's mom and i'm leaving. You can have my table!
I saw him at Rock-n-Bowl this summer. He was really smokin' on that guitar.
Funny story - a friend of mine was at LMF last Jazz Fest and wanted a picture with C.C. Adcock, and just grabbed the closest person around to take the picture, not realizing it was Tab. He took the picture, with C.C. cracking up the whole time, and my friend still not realizing what she had done that was so funny. Tab just took the picture and handed her back the camera without saying a word. That night, she and I are at Rock-n-Bowl and I point out Tab to her (he wasn't playing, he was just hanging out) and she says "THAT'S Tab Benoit? Oh my God! I just thought he was some tourist and I asked him to take my picture with C.C. Adcock today!!" Needless to say I was LMAO.

Me too. I just happened into the Blues Tent a couple of years ago, never heard of him, and he just blew me away. Now, I go see him every chance I get. Not only is he good looking, but his talent is incredible. Can't wait for the fest.

A friend just got back from the Blues Cruise. She said she saw Tab wondering around in her hallway at 2AM. I asked her why she didn't put him in the suitcase and bring him back. ;)

I LOVE Tab, and I'd vote for the man over the can any daY!
Whenever he comes to RI he plays at Chan's, a Chinese restauarant in Woonsocket, a mostly French Canadian city, so maybe he feels at home there, tho' he always makes fun of our accents. There's alot of Benoits there, but they pronounce it "B'noyt"
Speaking of Tab, anyone seen Hurricane on the Bayou on IMAX yet? Just saw it last weekend - It's geared towards kids, as an educational film, ie., see what happens if we don't save the wetlands - and it is very well done. Tab is a big part of it, with Amanda Shaw and Chubby Carrier, Marva WRight, Allen Toussaint, and probably others I'm forgetting. Parts of it will make you cry but is worth seeing, the Imax experience really immerses you in it.

I cant believe this blatant display of sexist objectification over a man who should be loved for his musical talent!
I’m shocked, shocked!!

We see Tab every chance we get. I lost my mind a few years back in the Blues Tent. Jazz Fest moment for sure.
Last time he was up here at Buddy Guy's we were up dancing in the area where the tables are during Iko Iko...no one else was. Didn't care!
Bummed he is first weekend this year.

I'd never heard him 'til Voice of the Wetlands CD... then I raced out and got some more of his music. Now all that's left is to see him in action (so pleased he's 1st weekend... sorry Huck) AND it would appear I'm gonna like what I see!
Five brothers huh.... Joey, me, Latida, Bluesgirl, Chipper, Winette, Mariena, Funkky and the rest. Holy crap, hope he's got some cousins too!

I thought this might be about Tab "Love Letters in the Sand" Hunter. I haven't seen him since he starred opposite Divine in John Waters' "Polyester" (filmed in "Odorama") here in Baltimore.
Well, nevermind.

That was a great flick.
My favorite, substituting the stinky sneakers for the flowers right when you got that odorama card under your nose.

I think I've posted this pic before but I'm sure Mama Roux won't mind looking at it again. Neither do I!
4am, Monday after, at the Rock'n Bowl - After a loooong drunken conversation about the wetlands and the government. I have NO idea what was said but I agreed with EVERYTHING he said. ;-)

According to his website Tab has a new book out:
Tab can now also add best selling author to his list of credits. His recently published autobiography TAB HUNTER CONFIDENTIAL (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1565124669/tabhuntercom-20/104-5856879-3288751?creative=327641&camp=14573&link_code=as1) became a national best seller and garnered critical raves and praise from the NEW YORK TIMES, DAILY VARIETY, SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE, WASHINGTON POST, VANITY FAIR, ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY, NEW YORK POST, GOOD MORNING AMERICA, LARRY KING LIVE, CBS SUNDAY MORNING and dozens more
Tab keeps busy developing independent films projects and riding horses.
Meanwhile, One has to wonder what kind of muscial rock some of you have been living under.;) Mr. Benoit has been melting (mostly) female hearts and belting the blues for sometime now. We had him up here at the Ann Arbpr Festival in 2002. Find the records, they're all good but Wetlands is a great place to start!

saw a doc or some spot on Tab Hunter within the last year. he was living on his ranch with his life partner. seemed very happy.
and i am ashamed and amazed that i know, Love Letters (1957) in the Sand was Pat Boone, flip side Bernadine. FTR - i aint that old. not sure if i knew this from the movie Bernadine, or because of my father's musical collection. (anyone else was raised on the Burt Bacharach, Tijuana Brass and show tunes?)
from google: Tab Hunter/Sonny James hit the charts 1957 with Young Love
