re: Chelsea morning. That is one of my all-time favorite songs. Four years ago, shortly after the thing I was driving, listening of OZ and they played the absolute most kick-ass version, better than Joni. So good, I had to pull over and listen. Found out it was Susan. In all the times I've seen her live since, she has never sang it. (It is on a cd called Paz Fest; a Joni Mitchell tribute album by NOLA artists.) Last night David asked her to sing it, she did and I cried, it was beautiful.
I'll post pics when my coordination comes back......

Extra extra special thanks and all my love to Lisa/Zydekitten, who worked tirelessly to arrange and coordinate all aspects of Frankfest. She took my vague notion of what sort of party I would like for my 50th and turned it into the reality of Frankfest. I had the best 50th anyone could ever want - Thank You, Baby! I love you!
We counted up 85 folks that attended - family, co-workers, Threadheads, other friends. The venue (Carrollton Station) was great to work with, the food from Jacques Imo's was fantastic, the doberge cake from Gambino's was huge and delicious, the dinks were flowing, and the band was amazing. Paul Sanchez and the Rolling Roadshow for Frankfest included Alex McMurray, Susan Cowsill, Russ Broussard, Shamarr Allen, Glen David Andrews, Mary Lasseigne, Herbert Stevens...and they sounded GREAT! I'm gonna have to talk to Paul to get the set list....
Also, I had asked for donations in lieu of gifts, and as a result, we collected $450 for Instruments A Comin' and nearly $400 for NOMC at the party. Thanks to all who contributed!!! (and remember, it is never too late to contribute to two of our favorite and most important New Orleans music-related causes!!!)
Thanks again everyone for your attendance and/or kind comments and thoughtful wishes for Frankfest!

LOTS of laughing was had this weekend. Anybody planning a party needs to give Lisa a call for tips and pointers on how to do it up right. The Frankfest beads were even better than a secret handshake to identify people.

Well . . . I think I'm just about recovered from Frankfest (actually, I would have posted sooner - but we had a new feline member join our little family yesterday and it's been a busy cat time integrating the newbie).
Thank you SOOOO very much to everyone who was able to join us at Frankfest 2009! Thank you also to all who weren't able to be there in body, but have been there in spirit here on the Bored - we felt your love and joy even if you weren't physically there. :)
While it wasn't my birthday, y'all gave me the truly wonderful gift of making my sweetie and better half so incredibly happy that night (I've never seen such a perma-grin on him!) - thank you! :D
Very special thanks to Ms. Tangie for all of her invaluable help setting up and decorating Carrollton Station for Frankfest!! {{{{{{{MUAH!!!}}}}}}
Lastly, here are my photos (please forgive the ever-present date stamp - new camera) of not only Frankfest itself - but also the Pre-Frankfest lunch at Galatoires: http://www.flickr.com/photos/zydekitten/sets/72157612493473823
