Avatar help

I finally decided to put my picture on the forum, and can't figure out how to post it. I assume you go to the 'Use Custom Avatar' option, which I did, and it says to enter the URL of the image. My picture is not on a website, but in 'My Pictures' in the 'C' drive. So, I'm not sure how to upload it to the JF profile. It is a regular head and shoulders shot taken on my digital camera, so would that size be okay to use as my avatar? I should have done this long ago. I feel kind of lame not knowing how, but if you don't ask, how are you going to learn:o ? Would appreciate some help. Thanks!:)

I think it has to be uploaded to a website and then linked by the URL of the image. I use photobucket.com. You can set up an account to store images for free and there are several of these sites on the web. You will probably have to resize the image to "small" or "thumbnail" for the image to be accepted as an avatar by the fest website. Larger images can be posted in threads, but only small ones are allowed as avatars. After you have uploaded and resized the image, copy the direct link into the address in the box that is in the "custom avatar" window when you open the "edit avatar" link in the user CP. Bruce, the image has to be 80x80 pixels and the file size has to be 19k or less.

If you want, you can always send it to me and I'll resize for you. You can then put it up in your photobucket acct and use that url.

Thanks Susan. I have been trying for the past half hour to paste the URL for the photo, and when I click on 'Save Changes' in the Edit Avatar link.....nothing! I just registered on Photobucket and uploaded a couple of photos that I want to use, and I can't seem to figure out the URL. I even shrunk it to what seems like a thumbnail size for the forum...but obviously I'm not doing something right. What is your e-mail address? I would appreciate any help:confused:

Please help me! I too have been having muchos problemos trying to put in a profile pic.
