Y'all? You're part of that number eZe.

Nice to be getting daily recognition on OZ these days.

The Campbell Bros. set at the Old Point a couple of years ago sure sounds great on the radio. Wish I had been there.

Yep, I was the Winter "Flash Drive" co-host on George Ingmire's show yesterday and we were lucky enough to have Paul Sanchez, and the engineer and producer of Glen David Andrews' gospel album on as guests.

Paul and the other folks gave the Threadhead Nation many fine compliments!

:D

You know, I was pretty jealous listening to you yesterday. I sometimes work the phones for the blues show on KNON, my local communty radio station. That pledge drive is a pretty no-frills operation. No computers, just pen & paper pledge sheets. But sometimes, if the host remembers, he'll bring each volunteer a bottle of water (that he pays for himself).

Then, I listen to you on OZ, and y'all get free gumbo, and fried chicken from Willie Mae's? Are you kidding me? It just ain't fair.

But they are in New Orleans ...the land of good food. I used to volunteer at NPR in DC years ago and we got some pretty good eats. At NPR it used to suck too until someone did something about it. Free advertising for the donating restaurants goes a long way for requiting food sponsors. You CAN do it Swag.

I just bought myself a doohickey that broadcasts my computer audio to my living room stereo system, mostly so I could listen to WWOZ through the good speakers in the big room.

But a radio preset, that would be sweet.

I can get WWOZ on my iPhone, and at home....but how does one get a radio preset in the car? That's a new one to me.

It's a "Soundcast Audiocast Wireless Audio System", and it's pretty cool.

The transmitter gets input from your computer headphone or speaker jack, or any 3.5mm jack (ipod, mp3 player, etc). It's also got a 3.5mm output, so you can connect computer to transmitter to speakers, to use the transmitter without sacrificing your speakers or headphones.

The receiver output is just red/white RCA plugs.

Setup is trivial - there's no software, just plug into an outlet, connect the cables, and start listening.

It claims a 150' range. Mine is maybe 50', thru a couple of walls, and sounds just fine.

That sounds better than crawling with wires underneath your house for 30 yards to connect your computer/stereo. (not advised but it works) :D

Hey Swag, where did you get it? Not sure where you can buy it would translate to Canada, but I would love to get the mighty CKUA and the mighty WWOZ on my living room speakers via my PC. CKUA's transmitter despite several upgrades just ain't great at getting a good clear signal to my home.

I got mine on Woot, but not available there any more (that site sells one item at a time, and once they're done, they may not sell it again for months).

Amazon has it, or if you search, you might find it cheaper. There are also some listed now on ebay, if you want to go that route (check shipping costs first, and whether they will send to Canada).

The part numbers are:
Soundcast ACR212 Audiocast Wireless Audio Receiver
Soundcast ACT211 Audiocast Wireless Audio Transmitter

You'll need at least one of each (you can broadcast to 2 receivers with 1 transmitter, if you have two stereos), or they are sometimes sold together in a bundle.

OOOOR... you can download the "internet tuner" app to an iphone or ipod touch and plug that into your receiver. Just started doing that recently and am SOOO excited to listen to wwoz on my stereo throughout the house!

Awww, thanks Dan! I don't know about that - but I did have a great time, as always, helping out OZ . . .

Isn't it GREAT to be able to have WWOZ as a preset on your various radio devices!!! I was so just tickled pink at that sign of being a New Orleanian too :D

You did sound great. Not only do you have a good 'radio voice', but you have a good on-air presence also. I thought about that this afternoon while listening to a hokey local show here. The host stumbled around verbally and mumbled and made strange sounds a lot and it was a stark contrast to listening to you the other day.

It's tough to do live radio and not sound like a ninny, but you handled yourself very professionally. No ninnieness evident at all.
