A friend of mine left a punk band and went solo. His act was called "Hummer & The Machine." His stage name was Dick Hummer. He got quite a few gigs in NYC at places like CBGB's, Mud Club, etc.
I think "Limp Bizkit" is fairly stupid. One of my least favorite band names is "Death Cab For Cutie."
I like the name "Toad The Wet Sprocket." Didn't that come from a Monty Python routine?

Hootie and the Blowfish come to mind even though I have to admit that I kinda liked them.

Knowing the characters in that band, I'm guessing that the "wrong idea" aspect of that name was actually the whole point of choosing it.

If Dead Kennedys is bad karma where does that leave the Wounded Reagans?

Marathon Key, FL has a bar called Woody's where none other than "Big Dick and the Extenders" has been playing for over 20 years.
Just did a search for them and some things have changed.

Well, it's been about 10 years since I've been down to the Keys. Looks like Woody's has moved to Islamorada and added some features not at the previous location. I thought those establishments were limited to Key West.

I once checked out a band called I Spit on Your Gravy and they were different.
Some friends of mine had a band called BIG DUMP who were named after an incident that occurred on there tour bus in Europe when they were working with another band.

Yeah u rite, Malo....the Channel was a great venue. Funny it was Boston, Boston a discoteque before then. If I am not mistaken, it was Patrick Lyons' first club...he who owns all the landsdowne clubs near Fenway Pahk.

I think you're right about Boston, Boston and the Lyons brothers, although it was just a wee bit before my time. Did you know they erased all the Lansdowne clubs up to Bill's Bar to make way for the new House of Blues? It should be opening this spring. Gone are the days of the dirty rock club. It's the LiveNation way or the highway.

GASP!!!! I knew they had closed Avalon for "renovations". The HOB in Cambridge was in a bad spot so it is tough to say how they will fare-near Fenway it should have a good draw but still....no Avalon is a shame, saw some really good shows there by not quite-BNAs.
Yeah Boston, Boston was there in my early high school days before Punk beat up disco and took its lunch money away.

They are a neat family group for sure, but WOW that is an odd name.... and pathetic person that I am, I just can't think of their name while I'm listening to them in the Gospel Tent. Sounds like a band that would play on Bourbon St.
