Great job to Chris, Nate, Nanci & everyone involved! Here is a really nice email from Paul Sanchez in response to the article:
Congratulations my dear Threadhead friends, the press is well deserved. I can't thank you enough and I hope you all realize that the most vital part of rebuilding the music scene is having new music and you have provided the chance for the music to live on. After the flood we were all trying to pay rent and eat, no one had time to think about where to find money for making records. The music you will be dancing to at next year's Jazz Fest wouldn't exist without each of you whether you put up $1,000.00 or $50.00. Your love of New Orleans will come back to you a thousand fold for years to come.

We need cards we can hand out.
Can I propose somebody design a card, then we can each order them at our own expense to hand out locally and when we are at Fest?

Would you rather have money sent by check or paypal? Are we still sending checks to you in LA?
I would suggest that under a certain amount, say $50 or $100, you add a small surcharge similar to what is done in the raffle and for Fest4Kidz - if someone is making a larger donation, probably more efficient to pay by check unless the donor wants to pay the fee.

Does THR have it's own bank account? If so, payments could be made through people's online bill paying service (I think). EFT's are pretty quick & shouldn't have any additional fees attached.
And, I found the official website is starting to come up. Bry - it looks great!

Hey now, it's not ready yet! Susan deserves the nod- I just try to recreate her artistic visions with 1's & 0's, but thanks! The goal is to be up & running by the 12/1, and I think we'll make it. Actually the basic site has been mostly completed on a borrowed server, just now transferring it to public view while tweaking a bit along the way. Now stop looking or I'll have to slap a password gate on there...!

CJ -- Do you lose 3% with Paypal donations that you don't lose with checks? I'd rather spend .40 on postage than 3% to paypal.
Yes, you do. But Paypal makes things so much easier- cuts down on the need for staff to handle checks; we all have full time careers too.
I have checked into getting set up to accept payments directly, bypassing Paypal, but it actually would cost more due to our less than huge volume.

Alex's project is funded, but Susan's new one isn't fully funded, nor is John and Paul's new duo CD. Checks for Susan should be made out to Susan Cowsill and sent to me, and John/Paul's should be made out to Paul Sanchez music and sent to me.

We can make a list of our favorite TH artists and what song they should sing or play...
I'd love to hear the combo of Paul, John and Susan doing John Lennon's "Happy Christmas (War is Over)"
And Shamarr doing an instrumental "Little Drummer Boy," perhaps with Stanton guesting on drums...
Nightcrawlers doing "Joy to the World," perhaps with John singing, or maybe just instrumental.
The website says that Threadhead Records will not be "involved in creative decisions". Maybe we should let the artists pick their own songs.

When Rosie first suggested the Christmas music, John Boutte' singing "Angels We Have Heard on High" was my first thought. I think he has the perfect voice for it. "Angels...sweetly singing..." sums it up perfectly.
The website says that Threadhead Records will not be "involved in creative decisions". Maybe we should let the artists pick their own songs.
Just suggestions man. And having some fun thinking of who would sound good doing what. I don't think anyone is suggesting that we have any control over the choices; but perhaps something that someone suggests will inspire one of the artists to do something that he or she would not have thought of otherwise.

I just think this is the coolest thing. So many record companies or producers screw the artists. Imagine one that really helps the artists. Wow. Thanks again to everyone. What an honor to help people experience the music.

I'm not sayin' that we demand certain songs and artists. I'm sure that they can pick their own songs. I just thought that the thought of a Christmas record would be a good one. Christmas standards by musicians we know and love, it doesn't get better than that!!!!;) :D

All I can tell you is that I won't make suggestions to the artists. Not that I don't think the xmas record idea is great. I absolutely do. And I certainly won't stop anyone from talking to the musicians about any ideas any of you might have. I say go for it. I encourage it. If John is receptive to the idea, and solicits our help, that would be wonderful. I also personally think John could make a great gospel album someday.
I just don't want the artists to ever feel like in order for us to loan them money, they have to include songs we want or make an album they may not want to make.
