damn...that's a HELL of a deal!
Oz, Black Friday is the day after American Thanksgiving when the stores put on these crazy door crasher sales to kick start the Christmas holiday shopping. Put it this way, I'm Canadian and 1/2 my department is off, booked with hotel rooms in Michigan and ready to rock at 4 a.m. to get in line for whatever store is offering the deal/item they want. Then they marathon shop for the whole day/night. Crazy shit....not for me. People camp out in the friggin cold but the deals are pretty incredible if you get your hands on what you're looking for.

It's called "Black Friday" because the stores have their biggest shopping day which, historically, put the retailers "into the black" for their year.

I don't think I've been near a mall during the holidaze in 4 or 5 years. Between supporting local artisan friends and the interwebs, I got it all covered.

Everybody have a happy holiday and safe travels. We'll be leaving for Pensacola at the crack of dawn tomorrow. I'll be at the Flora/Bama for happy hour on Friday if any P'cola T heads want to stop by. I've been told I look like a dead rock star.

Enjoy Thanksgiving you all. I have all the kids home, not going anywhere (except the kitchen of course), fixing my first tofu turkey (not for me!!) along with the traditional bird for the normal folks in the family.

I am greatful that we are not homeless, have food and good health. Challanging times for this family but again being alive and loved feels like plenty right now.

Enjoy your day and hope it is spent with folks who love and care for you.

It's not "Black" to me. Back in the day (pre e-shopping) when I did XMas, it was a sporting event to me. I power shopped then power celebrated being done!!

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. Most of the other holidays have been commerialized far away from their original meaning, but Thanksgiving is still all about gathering with family and loved ones and giving thanks for all our bountiful blessings. With some football thrown in.

And my husband just walked in with the makings for cranberry orange salsa and stuffed jalapenos. I'll add those to the shrimp grits for tomorrow. My theory is, the more I can fill people up with the appetizers, the more gumbo there is for me when we actually sit down to eat. :D

I'm gonna have to try those grits one of these days!!

I've got it pretty easy this year... I just have to make a salad (spring mix, purple onions, feta cheese, apples and pecans) with Balsamic Vinegarette and Dave is frying the Turkeys to bring to my Sis's house in Picayune.

Everyone...
Enjoy your friends and loved ones tomorrow however you spend it!!!:)

May your stuffing be tasty
May your turkey plump,
May your potatoes and gravy
Have never a lump.
May your yams be delicious
And your pies take the prize,
And may your Thanksgiving dinner
Stay off your thighs!

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone![/SIZE]

As I was standing there stuffing jalapenos about 5:30 this morning I decided that there aren't any calories in food that you make without a recipe.

So for those of you who wing it when concocting your delicacies today, EAT UP, your butts and thighs are safe!

Caveat: This revelation may be a result of the aforementioned 5:30am time frame, or maybe just a lack of coffee.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL!!!!!
If your going out on Black Friday, be careful, watch where you park, just be aware.
If your working Black Friday, like myself, keep a cool head. It'll be over in a few hours.
My favorite is day after turkey, Bunny bread, Hellmans mayo, Lay's potato chips and Hawaiian Punch.
And whatever desserts I snag from Mom's house.

Kinda like if no one sees you eat it...it has no calories or if you put sweets on top of the fridge...the calories fall out!!! By the way I love stuffed jalapenos!! What do you stuff them with? And I am definately a winger in the kitchen.

Edit note:
Delta I just found out by reading on down the line what you stuff them with. {{blushing}}

Happy T-Day to everyone. Jane and I settled for Spicer's Duck with cane/orange sauce. Also did a lot of cooking for tomorrow since that's the day mom and sis come up to visit.

Thankful for the inspiration that has been provided by this group in that, if you want to make a difference you really can.

Hey Belle,
How did the tofurkey come out?

I didn't try it but he liked it. Shudda taken a picture. I looked like a little bitty turkey!:D Everything else was vegan except the real turkey and dressing and no one else noticed.

Really takes just a few substitutions and all is good.
