That would be sweet!
Yeah, Pete's a bit outside the usual style box for Jazzfest (not many folksingers there), but if Bruce can play a set of Pete Seeger songs, then why can't Pete?
I was lucky enough to see him (http://www.swagland.com/festivals/lincolncenter08/2008LinconCenter.html) in NYC this summer at the Lincoln Center fest, and he can still sing, and his smile is as infectious as ever. He is 89 years young, so if Jazzfest wants him, it better be soon.

Sooner than later for sure. Just saying there would be a crowd around that stage and just to be there would be amazing.
Good call Swag! Your pictures are amazing. What a time you had and a few other T heads. WooHoo

Never saw him, but I second that "friggin blast". The first time I heard him, his music was everything I couldn't stand and didn't listen to, but for some reason I loved what he did.

aretha franklin would be at the top of my list.
i've seen most everybody, but have never seen arethe and REALLY REALLY want to. my fiancée went to memphis in may last year while i was at jazz fest. she only went on one day, sunday. her and a friend rode with jerry lee's manager and some band members. aretha played after jerry lee, but the manager and band members wanted to leave after jerry lee played, (old farts) so she didn't get to see aretha and really wanted to.
if i had known this was going to happen, i would have left jf a day early (sunday of second weekend) and met her in memphis so we both could have seen aretha.
oh please jf gods, bring the great aretha to JF '09!!!
tom waits is someone else i haven't seen that i would LOVE to see.
i've seen van morrison, but would REALLY love to see him again.
that's my top 3.
i've seen prince 3 times, first time being on the purple rain tour and the last time being on his last tour. he has always tore it up. prince would be huge at jazz fest.
phish may be on tour in the spring. i know jf said never again, but maybe the wooks have grown up and it won't be like last time. (my first jf)

Aretha would be a dream come true for me too. I adore her and have never seen her either. She would be a perfect fit for fest and NOT in the blues tent please!!! Now Prince would be the double whammy...wouldn't that just be incredible??!!!

Fest has been shoehorning bigger and bigger names into the Blues Tent lately (Etta James, Taj Mahal, Derek Trucks), but if they booked her, I think even they would have enough sense to put Aretha at Acura.
