Wow, this is really a tough one. I love them both--the fun, food and friends at the Patry and all the dancin' at the Fais Do Do. I have to call it a tie. Sorry.

I'm really torn, too. The fest IS the reason why we're there in the first place but the damn patry is OFF THE HOOK!

I think I'll hold off on my vote for a while.

No brainer for me...fest still exists but missing one good stage....no patry means no patry. It's absolute.

/writes this down. So Corona chooses the Patry. I think that's what you meant anyway, lol.

Sent you an email, too.

When in doubt on questions of this magnitude, there is only one thing to do..............look to the crab.

I await divine intervention before I cast my vote.

YYR Chickchopatoulis...I said everything I had to say over in that thread about why you should vote for Fais Do Do...however....I just learned that "The SoftShell Boys" are in fact a trio....and they plan to unite for their debut right here on this thread...uhhh....sometime over the weekend....as I've got work to do tonight.

I'm sure it will be be amazing Amy. The foods sounds great...the music is the height of cool...the people...well we probably come back to these boards over and over again just because of the people...

But don't think that because people are voting for Fais Do Do that they are voting against the patry. No way...they are voting FOR a decades long tradition that brings together 100s of thousands of people together from all the world. Plus the rest that it symbolizes....A vote for Fais Do Do is a vote for the Jazz Fest...and that includes everything in the threadhead world plus even more.

The Patry is in there too...(as is the crawfish bread!) ...vote for the one and you get both...well all three...you know what I mean.

You're using my inclusive logic now Mich that I used to justify picking the patry over the bread! But it's not quite the same, the patry is not automatically included in "fais do do stage," not by a long shot ;)

It's just a personal choice! I'm one of those BNA Acura stage campers that many love to hate, I really don't spend much time at all at the fais do do stage so there's no way I, personally, would pick it over the patry!

If you were willing to buy that "Fais Do Do as the Spirit of All Fest" oil that I'm selling, well then yes you can can and yes it does does.

Beside, to each his own definition of BNAs. (And that includes Los Lonely Boys, I've heard them and enjoyed hearing them channel a distant memory of a really more rockin time....Allman Bros meets Sha Na Na?)

While I know you only at a distance, I can't imagine that anyone who really meets you would continue to "love to hate" your way of enjoying fest... In fact I have it on a good authority that even among Fais Do Do fanatics, there are t-heads who find their way to your camp to enjoy the occasional BNA. Someday, I and my sweetie may make it ourselves....how many servings of Crawfish Monica should we bring with us?

Well admission to our camp is free but we would never turn down a bowl of crawfish monica or a cold cold beer :)

Looking forward to meeting you in person too Mich, at the patry? Everyone is counting on you to bring the crab!!

Gotta vote for Fais Do Do.

My first Jazz Fest moment was going to the fairgrounds on Thursday while my wife was at her conference. I didn't know what to expect, we had always just wanted to go to Jazz Fest. I make my way across the burnt out grass and end up at this stage where the zydeco is just pumping out. (I had only really heard zydeco the previous year at the Rock n Bowl when we were on our honeymoon. It was Boozoo Chavis.) I don't even remember who was playing the Fais Do Do that day, but people were dancing and having such a good time. Joy was floating around in the air with the straw. This feeling just came over me as I watched and knew that I was at the best place in the entire world at that moment. We decided to come back again and again. For the record there were no supplementals involved. :)

The Patry is pretty amazing as well and I count it as one of my favorite Jazz Fest things!

Plan to attend my first patry this year, nonetheless I voted PATRY cuz I just know. Maybe cuz what I imagine it to be is kinda like Ingrid's last year only 10 times better - the peeps, the tunes, the food, the raffle, oh yea!

And the absolute beauty of your post is that you may not have known a single soul there that day,.. at that time,.. and the magic was still spine tinglin' stuff..

Ten fests ago,.. at some dancin' and smilin' point of our very first day of our very first fest,.. I turned to my sweet love of a wife and almost knocked her down by yellin' out "No matter what happens, I am comin' back here every year for the rest of my life"...

If my memory serves me correct she was chowin' down on a soft shell at the time and she responded with an equally exicited tone.. "You idiot,.. ya' made my splatter hot sauce all over my t-shirt"... :o

As for that promise to return,.. so far,.. so very, very good........

that's why i save my favorite shirts, that already have a stain or small rip, for fest. usually the first thing i do is spill something down the front anyway - or you can hide the spot with one of a thousand buttons.

and then got a little animated (http://www.nojazzfest.com/chat/showthread.php?t=737) in the previous round.

You are right Paul, I didn't know anyone. We have made good on our promise to return since 2001, except for 2004, when our second son was born a couple weeks before the fest. We have pushed the limits before, but we didn't think we could leave a 3 week old baby at home...or bring him along for that matter.
