View Full Version : Pathway To Main Stages

I know this has been discussed in previous years. I strongly feel the need for a pathway in and out of the main stage areas. Why not do this directly behind the soundboard towers since it's not a great area to sit. I know that some feel this would increase crowding in front of the stages.

We are usually right in after the gates open to squat our space. Last year, I had to leave during Buffett and it was a nightmare. What do y'all think?

I think that's an excellent idea but how are you gonna make that happen?

I always go in to the main stages from behind the soundstage as it is less crowded there. the place they need pathways is from the soundstage toward the front, and also across the main front area between the stage and soundstage (allowing people to go form one side to the other.

I agree, we would need access to the pathway. I doubt anything crossing the main stage area is going to happen.

Perhaps we can start some sort of petition or letter writing campaign to Quint and/or the city. Maybe Festydave has a suggestion.

That would be soooo sweet. And don't even get me started about the route to the portapotties. Whew.

ROTFLMAO!!! Or even someone you know . . . and give it the sniff test before imbibing, just to make sure.

Other test, give it a minute to see if the "head" dissipates or not.

TFF!!

When we were teens we'd spend a lot of time at the beach, bonfires and drinkin....one would NEVER leave their drinks unattended because you would find yourself chugging seawater (at best!!). Well the stakes kept getting higher...one guy was kind of a jerk....so at school, we replaced his pepsi (back in the day they were sold in glass bottles) with the water from canned olives.....he picks up his bottle and emptied it....then sprayed himself when he spit it out....
i think we laughed about that for two years....poor guy...(oh yeah, he's still a jerk...haha)

Okay...where's the pictures of Amy behind the umbrella? C'mon Jeff, we know ya' got 'em.

That story is too funny. I knew there must have been some wacky stuff going on in front of Acura... but when ya' gotta go, ya' gotta go.

Yes, it's been discussed. Yes, it's a good idea. But when it gets crowded, the spaces fill, unless you have sufficient security folks to keep folks moving along.

Bottom line, I don't see it happening unless the NO Fire Marshall forces Fest to do it. Or unless something really bad happens.

I think you're 'zackley right swag. I think the biggest effort should be towards breaking up the chair walls and mega tarps early.
I just wrote much more but deleted it. Did I say the "C" word?

omg, I could barely breathe reading this thread about the crowd....that's the part I struggle with the most, the claustrophobia at the big crowds. Going pee is a NIGHTMARE! I'll take the back 40 at Acura or the edge at Sprint ANY time over the front! Having said that I WISH there were something they could do to keep an aisle way open but I don't see it happening.....

One of the reasons I don't frequent acura and camp on the outer edge of sprint, corona. The last time i went to Memphis in May, where there is ALWAYS a bottleneck at the exit/entrance, my friends had to drag me thru with me screaming. The jampacked peeps totally freaked me out.

You know there IS a line separated by barriers patroled by security that goes up to the front (of Acura anyway). It's really not for travel, I think it's for emergency egress and ingress. But if you're real nice to the security guys, they'll often let you run up and take pix real quick. Don't climb over those fences though or you will get yelled at. If you're stuck up front, that IS a way to get out, but forget about getting back in.

Me three. Being vertically challenged, I get somewhat freaked when I'm packed in with a bunch of folks, unable to move. I start feeling like I can't get any air.

Plus, a real bad experience one year at my first Mardis Gras back in the early 80's. We made the mistake of trying to cross Bourbon on Mardis Gras night, and I got stuck in the middle of a crowd and assaulted.

It is always my number one wish for the Fest - that they would lay out walkways at Acura - one down the middle and one across. Of course, some folks will wind up standing there during sets, but no one would set up camp there if it was clearly marked off with a rope or something.

Anyway, now I always head to Acura from the track side, and that helps some.
