Recently, I had to get my hard drive cleaned and unfortunately lost my ability to convert bit torrent files to a cd or mp3 format. I can actually download the data. I have searched for info but have not been able to find any. Can anyone help?
What foramt (file extension) are the downloaded files?
Lots of music format converters available. I'd start here:

Most of the torrents are coming in .flac format these days. The easiest call is to get Nero for burning discs. It has a plug-in that converts them on the fly at burn time.

i use "flac frontend" it is simple and efficient...
http://flac.sourceforge.net/download.html
I use this freebie for FLAC conversion:
http://www.koyotesoft.com/indexEn.html
That said, my latest BT download is in shn format, which it doesn't seem to support.

I use FLAC Frontend for decoding whole folders of .flac(s) to listen to before I burn. Nero is so easy, I always use it to compose a disc.
Swag, try mkw Audio Compression Tool (mkwACT) for the .shn(s). Free at etree - (http://www.etree.org/mkw.html) Drag n drop, works fine on my AMD running XP.

I had mkw on my old machine, but it looks like it won't run on Vista.
Traders Little Helper (http://tlh.easytree.org/ ) seems to work, though.

VISTA ...............UUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH.
goodness -it is an awful system - eh?!

It does have a way of frustrating.
It's not so much that it's awful, but some things that were simple and easy in XP have been removed for no apparent reason (image & fax viewer; camera & scanner wizard); other things are just different than where I'm used to looking.

I go to the record store, hold the album in my hand look at the picture and buy it.

Although, that is a little hard when what I am looking for is a LEGAL bootleg of a show that one wouldn't find in a record store
