Without asking I know your going to see Sam Bush. How about Ruthie or Robert Earl Keen? I check Ruthie's schedule often, still no Houston dates. We caught Robert at acl last month. He always puts on a good show. And the Rads also!
Enjoy!

Hey Fred. I think we're gonna try to do all three. Ruthie and Sam definately. Haven't seen Bobby Earl in a couple years, so would like to do that too, but it's on a school night. (old folks, ya know) I wanna do the Rads as well. The Pour House is a excellent small venue, so it should be great.
Also, just noticed this this morning. Something for a cold winter's night:
CTD presents Guitar Blues 7:30 p.m.
at Carolina Theatre of Durham/Fletcher Hall on 17 Feb 2009
Guitar Blues starring Jorma Kaukonen, Robben Ford and Ruthie Foster
The guitar is the foundation upon which all blues is built, and Guitar Blues features three of the most acclaimed blues players in America today. Join Hot Tuna's Jorma Kaukonen, the soulful Robben Ford, and the phenomenal rising star Ruthie Foster for a very special evening of blues.

Hey Ric, What a lineup coming to your area. I've never seen Robben Ford but he is on my list to see. Hope your able to make that show.

Yeah, he's on my list too. Seen Jorma several times with both acoustic and electric lineups. And Ruthie blew me away at 'Fest, can't wait to see her again. Very glad she is playing Stewart Theatre and not a club. Sometimes (most times) the college crowd comes to shows just to drink/socialize, rather that hear the music. JJ Cale was here 2 years ago and they did not shut up during the whole show until he played the 2 tunes WSP had covered and they could stick their fingers up in the air and say "high, high, high". Then back to gabbing. Very frustrating.
In the last 6-7 years this area has blossomed with good venues/shows. The Lincoln Theatre has one of the best sound systems I've heard in a club.

The Lincoln website says that Sam Bush will be at the Cat's Cradle on Nov 15th....
Have you been there?

Oh! You are right!
On the Cradle site it lists someone else, maybe an opener. But to answer your question, we have been to the Cat's Cradle. IT is nt as good a venue as the Lincoln, but to see Sam I'd go to a Mc Donald's!

I have never been there, but may be worth a trip to see Sam Bush....how is parking?

Good catch Saint. I hadn't noticed that it was there.
The Cat's Cradle is located in "The City State of Carrboro in The People's Republic of Chapel Hill". ("We don't need to build a State Zoo, we just need to put a fence around Chapel Hill" - Jesse Helms)
The Cradle is one of the oldest clubs in Chapel Hill. I've seen many a great show there over the years. (saw Nils Lofgren there one night with about 15 other people.) I haven't been in a couple years and thought they had relocated, but from the address, they haven't. I'll know better after we go see Matthew Sweet next Friday. I'll post back with any new info.
Parking is not terrible, but not great. Best to get there early, especially if you want a seat. Park and walk half a block west down the street to the Armadillo Grill and eat. (Owned by Ben & Heather Pace, couple of friends of mine. Excellent Tex-Mex. Their homemade Pico is great. Nothing fancy, very reasonably priced. Highly recommended. Amante Pizza right next door to the Cradle is good too.)

I have been to Chapel Hill a few times for classes at the Med Ctr. That is about the extent of my knowledge. I will plan on getting there early for parking and grub! Thanks!

Ruthie tonight!! Woohoo!
:( Not lookin' good for Sam and Robert Earl though (or Warrens NYE throwdown:( :( ). Tomorrow and Sunday we're scouting for temporary place to live for a month, until our house gets finished. (hoping it will be ready by Xmas) NEVER DO IT. NEVER BUILD A HOUSE. Buy a spec or preowned. It's every bad, pain in the butt, thing you've ever heard about it.
Saint, give us a good review. Sorry we won't get to meet. :( Maybe we can get together at Ziggy's sometime. Never been there, always heard good things.
& definately try the Armadillo.

Sorry...I will not make it either. I have been in a hotel for 20 days due to my incompetent landlord, so I feel your pain. I am going to stay with some relatives in Boone this weekend so I can get out of this Hotel. It is costing me a fortune!
Ziggy's is pretty cool, but very small, so I only go if the weather is good. Most of the time you end up staying outside. If you decide to go, let me know and we can certainly meet up. I will be looking out for what is playing up your way also. I really want to see the Iguana's next time that they come up to Cats Cradle. Hope both of our weeks get better!
That Christmas Jam in Asheville is looking better and better now! Sherri
Are you going to see the RADs next weekend? I may be able to get it together by then and make it to that show : }

Thanks Bry. It's been tough.
Re: Ruthie:
As expected, she was excellent. But it was short. She only played 1hr 20min. Blew my friends, who hadn't seen her, away. They bought 3 cds. (and took us for cocktails. :))
