So, what are the chances the Girl shirts will actually fit a Woman this year? How about a Hawaiian/Bowling style shirt instead of the long sleeve denim?
[sorry, cleaning out the drawers & closets ..... counting JF t-shirts/denims]

the chances are 0/40
(since it is the 40th anniversary).

if I could make a rec too
some shirts with huge logos not plastered all over them. Simple is better!

It would be nice if they had a contest for a couple of the 40th anniversary shirts. I'm SURE that some absolutely amazing designs would be submitted. There are too many talented people who care about jazz fest for that not to be true.....and for the ones they didn't pick - they'd have a nice pile of good designs to chose from in future years.

Great idea.
I don't like the big logos across the front of my shirt. I don't really care about the back but on the front (to me) it makes the shirt feel weird (stick to me).
Am I alone? LOL

YYR! The only tank I've ever found that covered the girls was at Congo Square.
I'm beginning to think they've got some color blind people making decisions the past couple of years.

Ah, if t-shirt designs were the only problem.....

I'm missing something because the last three years they had a tiny logo in front or no logo in front on the official Jazz Fest shirt.

You are correct that in recent years they've gotten away from the large decal logo on the front that felt like the radiation vests you wear when you are getting x-rays. However, they have now made the background patterns of the shirts too busy imo, which is a real shame because I think the designs themselves have been very nice and much more simple--if not for the busy backgrounds. I'm looking for a shirt with a simple logo on a clean, single-color background. Shouldn't be hard to do for at least one of the shirts, but they've yet to do it since at least '95, when I started attending.

Yea I just remember the shirts the last couple of years being really busy and having a bit more color than I'd like. Keep it Simple Stupid!

In around the same time period, there's been two I've liked ('01 and '03 I'm pretty sure, one is a white shirt with a second line in black/blue on the front, cool shirt)

I loved the '05 shirt with the logo on the front. I also loved the purple one from last year. I guess I like the textured colors and logos on the front. I've been disappointed they have moved the cool logos to the back. If I want plain monotone colors with no or minimal logo, I can just buy plain shirts at Target. I want shirts that scream out, New Orleans!

There are always plenty of "loud" shirt choices from what I've observed, and clearly many folks, like you, enjoy them. All I'm asking for is one of the designs to be a bit more clean, subtle and simple. I'm obviously not talking about a plain t-shirt; just one that communicates one design/thought, rather than five-plus different design elements going on simultaneously. I get that New Orleans is a loud, multi-textured culture; I just don't think it looks good when I'm wearing it. But, (in my best Rodney Dangerfield voice), I'm sure it looks great on you though.

Perhaps I've not noticed a lack of simpler options since that is not what I am looking for. I do agree that there should be a range of options. I love textured colors and cool logos so the options have satisfied what I'm looking for and i likely have overlooked that there aren't alternatives to that.
As far as sizes go, LONGER without going wider is something i'd like to see. Then i could actually put mine in the dryer.

I buy 1 every year since i started in '92. My faves are the tanks from 92,39,94 and the '98 purple trumpet tie dye. Someone offered me $100 on th spot for that one at a philly club blues jam. Keep em wild, crazy, jumbled, with food ,instruments, and culture coming out the pores. I put one on and i feel like i'm back at my 2nd home.
I just wish there was a way to buy them after Fest. This has gold mine potential all over it.

What would you want to see different from last year's selection?

I was really psyched about buying a jazz fest shirt when I was there...
and then when I got home i was thinking...
wtf do I wear this with???
not flattering at all!
But Becca gave me some good advice- wear a tank top under it and tie it to make it more girly.
but i will say this- it was pretty cool in Jackson when the NOLA Gumbo was here and Jeff and another guy were both wearing the guitar/chili peppers shirts. soooo.... the meaning behind them despite the unastheticness is good.

A Woman's shirt that fits an adult woman & a short sleeve button down shirt instead of the denim or in addition to the denim.

They have to sell the denim shirts. Those are our winter coats!

Okay ... that's why I said "in addition to". I have 3 or 4 myself. I'm just not feeling the designs lately. I didn't even mention polo shirts - I'd love something short sleeved w/a collar.

I'd love a tank for under $25. Less fabric and smaller but more expensive than a man's large t-shirt.

A tank that lets you wear a bra. The Congo Square tank was the only one I could buy.

I have never bought an official Jazzfest t-shirt. I buy only the Art4now Hawaiian shirts. For several of those, I am disappointed if I don't get any compliments on the shirt when I am out wearing them. Considering how crappy most t-shirts look after a couple of washings, I cannot bring myself to pay $25 for one, no matter how nice it looks on the rack (and for a t-shirt, the Jazzfest shirts do look nice, I admit). But I'd rather pay the $49 and have a real shirt that continues to look nice for years.
