not for fest..you can always jump the fence...they will sell tickets until even the swatches of land next to the port-a-lets are occupied

on the day from hell, there were people on top of the portapotties - 3 hours before dmb.
you can't make this stuff up.

Fest days never sell out, though they have been cancelled because of bad weather. And if a day is cancelled, you're SOL as far as your pre-bought ticket is concerned. Luckily, the tickets are for a whole weekend, so you can always sell them at the gate the next day.

I was smack in the middle of that mess being the DMB fan that I am. But I must say at some point they should stop selling tickets (90,000+??)...all kinda safety factors there. People couldn't get out of the crowd if they wanted to...peeing on themselves...not pretty

Yeah, it's fortunate nothing happened on that day. If someone needed medical attention in the middle of that crowd, the paramedics would not have been able to get thru. Luckily, that crowd was an anomaly, more than 60% bigger than any other day ever.

And on the other hand, having always said that it will not sell out, I can imagine the riot that might have occurred if they had stopped selling with 40,000 DMB fans still outside the gates.

they can't refuse people with pre-bought tickets.

since a ticket is good for anyday of the fest, stopping gate sales would not stop additional folks coming in. unless if was sunday, those with extra weekend tickets could just lend them to friends to get in on the 'sold out' day, and then the friends replace with gate tickets the next day.

the best plan would be, not book bands that will pull in 100k fans on their own.

ps - i was literally scared for my physical well being trying to leave Acura around 3pm on that first DMB overcrowded day. i had went over to see North Miss. allstars and thought it would be early enough to leave without too much trouble. WRONG!

Yeah, 160,000 people in the Fairgrounds was more than just a little crazy. I was just as bad with everyone trying to leave at the same time too, I've never seen lines like that...ever!
