I've always admired this band from afar, especially for their Christmas music. Imagine how great it was to see them tonight for free outdoors in an intimate shell setting. I didn't think I was going to get there on a Sunday night, but Eileen and I were out anyway and dropped by. She loved them (as did I). Even in Memphis they managed to get lots of audience participation. My biggest regret is that I ate a big italian meal just before seeing them. This made the polka a somewhat difficult dance on the stomach. They were even better in person than I expected, and my expectations were high. Saw a few musicians in the crowd including former Continental Drifter, Robert Meche and sax sideman extraordinaire, Jim Spake.

we* enjoyed free Brave Combo on friday night at the Soulard Octoberfest here in St. Louis. (they also played saturday night, but alas i could not attend).
i've been a big fan for years and have seen them in many venues, and have always come away rejuvenated.
i love and own their Christmas CD and other 'albums'. but you are right about them being the best live. I love their version of the hokey-pokey, the duck/chicken dance which i've heard is suppose to be a joke but is very popular in STL, and of course Must Be Santa!

*me, boyfriend Jim, Nancy (jacqueimomo) and numerous other friends who frequently fest.
