Spring drive for us. Hopefully there's a little more cash in the coffers by then.
I do like that travel mug though!!

Just to let y'all know - it is possible that the price of the Brass Passes may go up after the first of the year - at least that's the word 'around OZ as we prepare for the Fall Membership Drive (they told us that at the On-Air Co-Producer Meeting I attended last Sat) . . .

Hmmmm, somehow that makes me not want to buy one at all.
If they want to raise the price, fine, but it should be for all 2009 Passes - only seems fair.

Well, it might very well be . . . but they mentioned the Brass Passes specifically as they are much more popular than the Over Passes.

Sorry, what I meant was they should be the same price for both Pledge Drives (didn't mean the different passes).

Any idea how much they may go up?

It may have to do with uncertainty this far ahead of gate prices next year. I don't know how they work it with Fest. It could be that they can sell 'em at last year's prices until Fest changes what they charge Oz. (Does that make sense?)

I completely understand the reasons. The "gamble" is how much of the Pass will actually go to the station.
I just think it's the right thing to do to set the price and live with it. If $375 is a gamble, then raise it to $400 now.

I will probably secure it soon. I actually have a little extra cash right now and would rather have it bought, paid for and only have to worry about food and booze down there...and shows!

Actually - I think it is just fine.
How about if we think about it another way. WWOZ is holding prices down to last year's level for people who can donate now. If you can't - that's okay - you'll pay this year's price like most people. It's just a bonus for those who can pledge now rather than a penalty for those who can't.

is it wrong when jazz fest offers discounts for advance purchases? many festivals tier their prices, the closer to fest the more you pay. why not the same pricing scheme for the Brass Pass?
if you think the pass is right for you and the way you fest, and you can afford it, go for it.

It was pretty much a no-brainer for us... after going the TicketBastard way last year it was a push vs. Brass Pass when you insert the per-ticket service charge, the doin'-it-all-yourself-online fee for the whole order, plus shipping. But that doesn't account for the in'n'out, which my wife certainly would've used to go back to the pad, change, and return last year during the deluges. Then, you factor in the water, iced coffee and chairs (!) and I'll gladly join the ranks.

When I checked this morning the aussie dollar was down to 71 US cents. Bastid. Think I'll be purchasing ours sooner rather than later.

Hi Ozzie
I am on the road in Europe with a dud laptop but we are back at home base in spain now and I can check net stuff again and as at 5 minutes ago the Aus dollar was heading down somewhere below tassie 31 percent drop since it peaked.I dont know why I didnt buy then, ill blame personal lazieness and stupity, the one saving grace is that I am presently earning Euros and I now get $1.35 against the US Dollar so this stint in Europe will pay for the next 2 in Nola all things permitting.
Cheers

Goodonya Gards... hope the work and tour are treating you well. Never fear, our dollar 'recovered' some today and is currently 67 cents. Gulp.
Two hours left in pledge drive.
I just bought myself a little birthday present. :)

Kitty had a major "shout out" to you on your birthday on 'OZ this afternoon!
Did you hear about a half hour before that, some dude from Washington named Mark Rosenblum pledged?

Anyone know exactly how much of the brass-pass is tax deductible? After looking at the WWOZ site, it appears to be very little.
Thx

You can email them and ask. I think last year it was $125. I assume it's the difference between costs for individual tickets and the pass.

I just got a letter in today's mail with the fair market values of the gifts. Each pledge drive has different gifts, so you'll have to calculate what applies to you. The FMV of the brass pass alone is $270, but you have to take off the CD, mug, doubloon, and any other fun things you got.
