Now you're talkin'! but what a travesty - only ONE mofro performance, in their backyard??? I'm suprised I hadn't heard of this fest (2nd year) before, but it looks like a great, dare I say Jazzfestian, ensembles like Dr. Claw & McTuff. Hope they bring'em to "our" fest, too!

This will be tough, but hypothetically, if I were coming, what airport would I be flying into?

I think it's tallahassee. I'm off work those days and almost went for it but opted for 2 more weekend nola trips instead. :)

Yep, I think Jacksonville would probably be the best bet. Tally may be a bit closer but it's not a major airport. Spirit of the Suwanee is where they have Magnolia Fest and Spring Fest; LBI Steve flew in for one of those through Jacksonville and rented a car. I'm thinking it's not much more than an hour drive. Swag (or anyone else) if it might work out let me know if I can help you with some camping gear (I'm there--already got the tickets).

I saw Mofro at the first show of their CD release tour, in St. Augustine for the Blackwater Sol Revue (Labor Day weekend). It was JJ Grey and the Mofro Orchestra--they had 3 singers, 3 piece horn section, and a violin and cello. Probably the best Mofro show I've seen! They're playing at the Sarasota Blues Fest on Nov. 1st, so they're covering the state pretty well.

Well, I went to this a few weeks ago and it was very fonky! Don't have the time or energy for a detailed report. Everyone that planned on going bailed on me so I had to set up camp by myself (no big deal, though I did break down and buy a tent heater). Almost had PaulC talked into driving up, but the weather scared him. Rained a little, then cleared and got cold. Young crowd, great scenery--until it got cold and they had to put on more clothes--<oink>. Always beautiful in the woods along the Suwanee River.

Anyways, the DumpstaJam was the set of the weekend for me. Check out the guest appearances:
