If you happen to be in town next weekend and are looking for an alternative to the Gretna Festival or the Congo Square Rhythms Festival (which is actually at Bayou St. John & Orleans Ave.), you could consider this bluegrass festival in Audubon Park on "The Fly". The festival runs from 9A-5P Saturday and Sunday and there will be food available for sale. There will be a bluegrass history exhibit aboard a vintage train, although I think the steam engine is in repair. People are welcome to pick and jam in the parking lot. A $10 donation is requested.

Performance schedule:

Saturday October 4

9:30am Tanglers
11am Pat Flory
12noon Jammin'
1pm Whistelstop
2:30pm Hazel & The Delta Ramblers
4pm The Fabulous Bagasse Boyz

Sunday October 5

9:30am Pat Flory
11am Shallow Creek
12noon Jammin'
1:30pm G String Bluegrass Band
3pm High Ground Drifters

Thanks for that info, I did not know about that! Great place to drop off my Dad on Sunday and I can go to Gretna. He will enjoy it and I can enjoy my day also. Sounds like a lot going on next weekend and a really good variety of things to do.

Among other things, he's an old coughcough friend of mine. He's a fine picker and dobro player, can play anything.
