While I'm still partial to Dave Bartholomew and Cosimo, I could come around to this, but while it's the right guy, it's the wrong artist (imho)!

Very, very Cool
If this rumor is true - Toussaint is long overdue.
Besides maybe Rodrigue, Michalopoulos probably has more commercial/demand/resale appeal than any other artist. It'll be interesting to see his take on Allen.

Hope this is true. And Allen is not only deserving, but also an interesting subject with his dapper gentlemanly style.

I had heard Michalopoulos say he wasn't going to do anymore Jazz Fest posters after Fats. Curious.

I have to agree with you that Dave Bartholomew & Cosimo Matassa should be the subjects, or at least included with Allen Toussant. All three are long over due.

Rumor
Thanks, FD, as always to quell the buzz. Although I would love to see AT get his poster for sure.

Rumor
I knew it was a little early for this!;)
Early? Nah. Never too early for rumors. Heck, we've already had rumors about the 2010 poster...

Well, if were back to the rumour stage, I might as well put in a plug for George Dureau who did the 1999 Profesor Longhair poster or Richard Thomas who did the 1989 Fats Domino. Always two of my favorites, 10 or 20 years seems to be long enough for a repeat engagement. Then there's always Bruce Brice who has never been given a shot at the large format Art4Now posters!

I like both of those a lot too.
You know that Thomas also did the 2006 Congo square poster (Monk), right? He's also got a booth every year in the folk art area, and if you go to see him, you'll find that along with his artistic talent, he's a heckuva nice guy.
