#1 Must see out of 3 days/130 bands has to be Mike Farris on Sunday 2:30-3:30.
I'm skipping this year, but really need to get back there. Maybe in '09.

I hope we are both able to make it next year. The weather forecast looks good. 90/60s with lots of sun. I sure need a break from all of the stress this week due to Ike.

I hope you are going and can enjoy yourself. Damn Caine for sure.
It is not the storm but its aftermath and this will last for years. Damn it!

That is so true Belle, dealing with everything after the storm.
This weekend in Austin will be packed. For the first time since acl has started the Texas Longhorns will be playing at home the same weekend. The UT/Arkansas game was cancel due to Ike and this was the only open date for both schools. Sixth Street will be rocking Saturday night. I wonder if the crowds at the fest will be smaller Saturday. The games starts at 2:30.

I am listening/watching it now on attblueroom (linked from main page aclfestival.com) huge crowd, no sitting, really packed.
Slightly Stoopid is on now, but I just saw this unbelievable band of gypsies called Gogol Bordello. What a troupe! I had never heard of them before, but they look like such a fun band. Reminded me of this other band Gandalf Murphy o& the Slambovian circus of dreams (that I am going to see tomorrow) but on a much larger scale.
Looking at the ACL fest schedule there were more unknown-to-me bands, so I was notr really into going this year, but this was one of those bands that if I was drifting around the festival, they definitely would have drawn me in. This Slightly Stoopid isn't bad either, though a bit mellower than GB. Gotta love these webcasts!

Hey Now --- Glad to hear you had a good time, I really wanted to come back down for ACL again this year, but its nice to know you enjoyed yourselves.....
Did anyone catch David Byrnes' set? He will be here next weekend, and I am looking forward to his show, and am wondering what to expect. Hopefully some of his Talking Heads material, alongside solo stuff.

Matthew,
Please post your review of David Byrne and Brian Eno's show. I was very disappointed that they chose to skip over N.O. His last three tours sold out shows here, but that's the way it goes. It seems that the set lists are a combination of songs from their new collaboration along with TH songs from the Fear of Music and Remain in Light years. I would love to see one of these shows. Here is a set list from the recent show in Phoenix:
Strange overtones, I Zimbra, One fine day, Help Me somebody, Houses in motion, My Big Nurse, My Big Hands, Heaven, Never Thought, The River, Crosseyed & Painless, Life is Long, Once in Lifetime, Life During Wartime, I Feel my Stuff
Encores: Take me to the River, The Great Curve, Everything that Happens, Home

Hello Matthew,
You need to talk with Robert, aka TCloud. He went to the show Thursday night and saw DB again at the festival on Friday. Maybe he will stop by and give us a review. I missed him Friday due to being at another stage. I know, shame on me. Hope to see you in Austin next year. You can always team up with us at our base camp.

Hey Now Windowman, Fred--- Good to hear that you enjoyed ACL, and I hope to make it back down to Austin again soon, but I am looking forward to David Byrne here on saturday. Looks like there will be a nice retrospective of his music, both with the Talking Heads (one of Americas most influential bands, as well as one of my personal favorites) and his solo career.
I will make sure to let everyone know how the show is......
Hope everyone is enjoying a wonderful autumn, Matthew
