Dan Penn in my town!

So my friend juana calls this afternoon and asked what I was doing. I was watching my grandgirls ride on a float in our local fair parade. She says Dan Penn is at Hendrix College(they put on some great free shows there) so she's coming up from the Rock. We call another friend and we all head over. He had Bobby Emmons on keys. Great show with about 150 other fans: Do Right Woman, Dark End of the Street, Rainbow Road, old folks, Luchenbach, Texas which Bobby wrote and many many more.

Lucky you! I love Dan Penn...sometimes those spontaneous shows are the best. Me, I have Neil Diamond with seven work friends on Thursday....

awesome! didn't get enough of him at the Stomp a coupla years back.

It was truly awesome. Also cool was that our local north arkansas musician brothers, the Cates, drove down to see their friend, dan, play. He told some great stories between songs. He sang several songs from his new album that I loved. Juana said he wasn't booked at the stomp again because he wanted way too much money after the first year.
