Joe's going on a limited U.S. tour in Oct and Nov.
Presales started a while ago and seem to be going fast. I checked Portsmouth Nh and they are just about gone. have to truck it on down to Lupo's in Providence and there are not many left there either.

Always a great show. Saw him last year a couple of days after Fest. I noticed he's @ HOB in NOLA Nov. 12.

is it going to be just Joe, or Joe with a small/medium/big band? The Warfield show on the 15th is too much for me, after the Crescent City throw-down on the 14th at Mtn. Winery, but it should be a sell-out as well.
I just read some of his "Smoke, Lies, and the Nanny State" treatise from the Smoking link on his webpage. It's good stuff, regardless of where you sit on the smoking fence, but good luck with smoking onstage here in Correctness-Land, Joe!

Not sure whether there's a band or not, just thrilled to finally see Joe.
Jane and I were just discussing all of the "classic" artists we've finally seen over the past couple of years; Squeeze, Thomas Dolby, John Mayall, Watermelon Slim, Neville Brothers, Santana, Elvis Costello, Alan Toussaint... And Jane said, the one that comes to mind is Joe Jackson. This was on Sunday.
We may follow up the next weekend in Sculler's in Boston with what I consider a jazz classic; that's the Rippingtons.

That was a well written treatise! I'm adopting it as my official position. I think he fairly describes the broader state of society at this time as well.

This is my personal favorite - "P.A.S. (PATHETIC ADDICT SYNDROME)".
The last couple of times I've seen him down here in LaLa Land, I've wondered what would they actually do if he lit up on stage? Would they stop the show? Would they toss him out into the smog filled air?
How can you argue with a man who had a suit made to match the olive in his martini??

too funny! and don't get me wrong - I was deliriously happy when the North State did away with club smoking... I used to strip in the garage after gigs so I wouldn't have to smell my clothes all night - but it has seemed to go a bit far. My favorite was arriving early to my favorite small venue (the old Palm Playhouse) and sitting at the bar with Sam Myers the last time I saw him with Anson. The staff sees Sam getting a cigarette out and politely tells him that the venue is non-smoking. Sam grunts, puts the cig away, then gets up onstage & immediately lights up. The funny part is he tossed the butt on the floor and then couldn't see it to stomp it out - I was sitting in the front row and started to put my foot over the monitor to mash it out for him when the stage mgr comes running out like the ball-boys at the US Open & scoops the butt up and runs off. :)

Ha! Yeah, that was Sam.
There was an sculptor named Sharon McConnell who did face casts of many notable blues artists. When she did Sam, covering his face in plaster, she had to leave a little hole for his cigarrette...
