I think we can all agree that the price is getting steep. But this does so much good for the culture that I am willing to pay the price. Anything that can infuse a jump into the economy down there is worth it. That being said. Let's start a campaign to have Ticketmaster donate all their service charges to the New Orleans Musician Relief Fund http://nomhrf.org

I'm with you, but I think it'd be as likely as getting Exxon Mobil to donate half their profits to the alternative energy research fund.

Does anyone have any idea how we could contact a human being at Ticketmaster to campaign for them to make some contribution back?

Can't hurt to try.

I don't think there are any humans at Ticketmaster. It's all run by a big computer, kinda like the one in War Games.

There is nothing anywhere on their website that would lead you to anyone with any authority.

I don't mind steep prices if the money goes to the NOJHF Foundation, but the "convenience" charge by TicketBastard has made it painful for me to sit down for a week or so..

I got all the way through their tortuous ordering maze and because we're driving this year, opted for the UPS ripoff ($15 to deliver 12 slivers of cardboard???). I figured the US Snail option would never get here in time for our departure date.

So imagine how swell I feel now that I get a confirmation email saying the tickets will be printed at some unspecified future date -- they'll be sure to let me know -- not delivered, as advertised for $15 by next Wednesday (not that I need them that fast).

Anybody know if I'm going to have problems with this? [sigh]. We plan to leave on our road trip by April 20.

Probably not. I have ordered tickets from Ticketbastard for fest a number of times and they have always been mailed out quite a long time in advance.

Can you just purchase tickets at the fairgrounds each day to avoid a surcharge?

Would they just be $45 then?

If so, I'd rather pay $45 and have $10 go to the Foundation, then pay $42 and have $7 go to ticketmaster.

hmmm, I might know a guy who knows a guy. I work for Tweeter Center PT during the summer as an usher and they are of course owned by livenation which used to be clear channel which owns most of the mass market radio and event media and in turn owns ticketbastard whew got tired just saying that.
Anywho, let me check with these guys and see if there is anyone they can point us to.

Ticketmaster
Evite
Cornerstone Brands
and many more...

The CEO of Ticketmaster is a guy samed Sean Moriarty.

Hehehe! Yeah, that's me!

Actually, I do a lot of business with Interval International, and they are one of the IAC companies. It seems like they have a pretty strong portfolio of service-based companies that don't actually offer any real...service. Most of their stuff is web-based, and virtually all of its business is done without any interraction with hoomans. They've made BILLIONS from extracting service fees, yet they actually own very little in the way of assets or capital expenses.

Nice work if you can get it!

Happy ending (beginning?). Tix arrived yesterday - fastest service ever.

Of course for that (handling/"convenience") price they shoulda been hand delivered by Leo Nocentelli [g].

For that price they should come with a dozen oysters and a bloody mary!

I don't like paying ticketbastard fees one bit, but when it's the only option I do. I don't believe the Fairgrounds has ever been shut out on the day of the fest. Why not pay the $45 at the gate (and you can pick up all 3 tix for the weekend in one stop) so all the money goes to the foundation? If I'm incorrect about a possible sell out and being turned away, please post!
