Hi beloved t-heads....yeah it's been so kewl gettin the juices flowin for jazzfest....reading the posts and lookin forward to seein all your cute mugs!!!
I've been a fester since 1996, missed a couple of years...but it's in my blood like it's in yours. But I've lost my music groove!! I dunno, I've been through a lot, and raising a baby at my age is uh...tough...but I've never had this happen to me before. (now it's only my music groove that;s lost, my other grooves are just fine thanks!)
So my plea is this, burn me some cd's with some of your fave "inspiring" tunes...(2578 Dwight St, San Diego, CA 92104) i love most music (hmmm...hip hop...not so much)....i'm kinda clueless on how to download music on my magnificent laptop, so if ya send somethin' online, ya have to tell me how to access it.....love, hugs and high fives!!

Hey Now Joey. Matthew from Salt Lake here. Good to hear from ya. I have some discs from the Los Lobos sets from Austin City Limits that we were at in September. They are pretty tasty, and I will be happy to send out a set. I leave for New Orleans next wednesday, and I will see if I can have them out by then. Hope you are well, and I look forward to seeing you at Fest!!! PS if you go to see the Radiators at the Belly Up next month, please say Hey Now to the guys for me. Best from Utah, Matthew

If you need to get in that NOLA state o' mind, drive up here to L.A. Feb 17th & 18th for Mardi Gras at LA Farmers Market sponsored by the Gumbo Pot.

If that doesn't get you into the mood ......................

;) :D

Hey Doll...yes, i do know the Farmer's Mkt...yes that would be a blast..don't know if I could get away that weekend, but it surely would a sweet reward for driving up there! What part of Cali you live?
Thanks for the heads up!

We are in the thick of it - LA proper. We used to live by the Market and are now down in Korea Town (near the Wiltern Theater). I'm a homesick NY'R, so it's city for me! My husband lived down your way for 14 years.

The good thing about Mardi Gras this year - Presidents Day so there is a day of recovery!!

Native San Diegan, although some would argue that san diego is small town...yeah, i call it the 'Provinces'...cuz we don't have that big city vibe, nor the big city music scene, but it is getting a wee bit better.
I love visiting LA, I love the multicultural diversity of it....being able to walk into a corner El Salvadorian market, eating Cuban food in Santa Monica....it's all good i love it!
Never been to the city that's so big it's name is said twice...NY, NY...haha...
glad to meet ya, hope we can hook up at Jazzfest!

Hi Joey!
I'm not in cd burn mode right now (about to swap all my data to a new pc), but here are some good free listening options:

Internet Archive http://tinyurl.com/muc8t - thousands of live sets from a wide range of artists, many are streaming with a built in player

Pandora http://www.pandora.com/ - a very cool interactive jukebox! You create a channel based on an artist or genre of your choosing. It plays tunes of similar styles or artists, you vote yea or nay and it continually adjusts the tunes it plays based on that input. For example you create a "Radiators" channel and it will play Radiators, then maybe Little Feat, then maybe John Mayer, etc. If you vote no on one, it will steer away from that artist or style. Create as many channels as you want.

Our very own Staxun's New Orleans Big Beat show on Memphis community radio Friday afternoons http://wevl.org/

Andy from Gumbohead's The Rythm Section show on St. Louis community radio http://tinyurl.com/2ql48j (http://tinyurl.com/2ql48j)

Little Steven's Underground Garage http://tinyurl.com/9ka8p (http://tinyurl.com/9ka8p)Archives of Steven Van Zandt's radio show, each one a different theme and he has great taste!

that should get ya started...

I love visiting LA, too. Unfortunately, this visit is too long ;) . What can I say, Festivalboy is too cute to leave!!

I'm sure we'll find each other at JF! We're there 5/1 - 5/7.

We get down your way for a baseball game or two each year as well.

Back to work ................. :(

Hey, Joey -

Zydekitten up in Nevada City (near Truckee) here . . . I'd be happy to burn you all kinds of New Orleans/Jazzfest music if you send me blank CDs! Between my collection and my lover man, Denbear's collection (which is vast, he being a native New Orleanian and all) - we could get your mojo back working, girl!!

BTW, used to live in LA and the OC back in the day when I was married. Not to mention, the brother of a former significant other lives in Encinitas and we used to visit down there quite a bit . . . give my regards to SD!!

HEY KITTEN,

For some reason I never knew you lived up near Truckee!!! I used to go up there all the time to the amphitheater when I lived in Tahoe. Saw the best Burning Spear show there in '99. Love that place.
Hope to hang with ya at JF and talk about the great places up there! We miss it so much!

Mz Joey - e-mail me directly because I too have a VAST music collection and I wouldn't want to make you duplicates..... We can chat on-line and I can give you a spreadsheet of what I have and I'll send some along. michelecj@gmail.com just put mzjoey in the subject line so I don't throw ya in the spam file.

Spreadsheet...wowie, am very impressed!!
I "inherited" a music collection from my ex-, and it doesn't really "fit me", but I've thought about cataloging it, just as a start to get some of the cd's to someone who might enjoy them more than me, or trade 'em or something. chat at ya later!!!

Jah, man!!! It's a great area with some excellent live music from here (Cooper's, Crazy Horse, Miners Foundry) to Truckee/Tahoe/Reno!!!

Looking forward to hanging with you at Fest and sharing.

Good times . . . :D :D
