Hey folks! Thanks for all the birthday love!

I'm actually taking the day off and celebrating "Ross Day". I do the same thing every year: take one day just for myself and do all of the things I haven't done in a while.

I started off by going for breakfast at one of my favourite restaurants, and then for a nice walk with Harley, my very hairy buddy. I then hit the patio, surrounded by a jungle of flowers, and had a bit of an ipod party. Now I'm just getting ready to hit the rehearsal studio - I decided to rent some space and pound on some drums for a while - and then it's off to hit golf balls, followed by a nice massage. Afterwards, I head to the top of the Manulife building to sit on their outdoor patio (on the 51st floor!) for a cocktail or two.

One of the rituals I've done since 1996 is to set my goals for the next year. I start out by opening my Daytimer and reading all of the things I DIDN'T get done last year: learn Spanish, make 22 Billion dollars, get my motorcycle license...you get the picture. The good news is that I started inserting some really attainable goals a few years ago - brush your teeth regularly, take out the garbage on Mondays and Thursdays, do laundry, etc. - so I'm guaranteed at least a few check marks! (Damn. Today was garbage day. One less check mark, I guess! :>)

It's really empowering to feel like you're taking back control of your life, even if only for one day, you know?
