I'm not sure what the deal is, but I was just booking some other flights and figured I'd take a look at fest flights on SideStep to see where they were on price and after seeing nothing under $700 out of Jackson Hole or Idaho Falls, I looked at the round trip cost out of Salt Lake City.

We're booked now for $180 per person round trip on United. There is a connection through Denver.

When I searched the same flight round trip out of Denver, it comes up as $445 per person round trip.

I'm not sure why the difference. Maybe United has specials out of SLC right now or something, maybe an error, but I've got the receipt and confirmation, so we're booked and anyone else traveling from this part of the country should definitely take a look on United's site. Our dates are Thursday April 23 through Monday May 4.

Any idea why this might be Swag?

Hey Now and THANK YOU to Jeff and Amy for giving me a heads up to an incredible deal on flights to Fest...... 180$ roundtrip from Salt Lake to New Orleans is a stunning bargain, and is in fact the cheapest I have ever seen in my 13 years of flights between the two cities. The grain based beverage fund is already anticipating a banner year for thirsty young music lovers of all faiths..... (its not just for "mormons" anymore)
Thanks again, Potters, and I will look forward to thanking you in person next week!!! Matthew

Nice grab, y'all! and that makes an extra day/two much easier to justfy. I was checking on "wanna get away" connections to SLC just to ponder the possibilities, but that layover in Denver looks like a deal-buster... ah, well - at least I'm looking now - thanks for kickin' that into a higher gear!

Well, it's pretty common that a connecting trip thru a hub may cost less than just half the trip, A-B-C-B-A costing less than B-C-B. Makes little sense, I know, but people prefer nonstops, so connections are cheaper; plus when one airline dominates a hub, they have less need to compete on price.

This could be a salvo that UA is firing at DL, who I suspect dominates the SLC-MSY market. If so, it may not be available for long (sometimes less than a day), so good for you for snapping it up. Or, it could be just a fare sale that may last for a few days or weeks.

It's likely not an error - those are very very rare on domestic roundtrips - and if you're ticketed and your credit card has been charged, I would have no worries at all that they will honor the ticket.

Jeff checked the fare was almost $600 today. We totally scored, and glad you could to Matthew! :)
