Enjoying the Nassau show from the Spring tour, 1990. Branford sitting in on the best Dark Star of the later Dead period. R.I.P. Jerry. lay off that heavenly persian, and remember, it's St. Peter, not St. Stephen...

Fare you well, my honey
Fare you well, my only true one
All the birds that were singing
Have flown except you alone
Going to leave this broke-down palace
On my hands and my knees I will roll, roll, roll
Make myself a bed by the waterside
In my time - in my time - I will roll, roll, roll
In a bed, in a bed
by the waterside I will lay my head
Listen to the river sing sweet songs
to rock my soul
River gonna take me
Sing me sweet and sleepy
Sing me sweet and sleepy
all the way back home
It's a far-gone lullaby
sung many years ago
Mama, Mama, many worlds I've come
since I first left home
Going home, going home
by the waterside I will rest my bones
Listen to the river sing sweet songs
to rock my soul
Going to plant a weeping willow
On the bank's green edge, it will grow, grow, grow
Sing a lullaby beside the water
Lovers come and go - the river roll, roll, roll
Fare you well, fare you well
I love you more than words can tell
Listen to the river sing sweet songs
to rock my soulBrokedown Palace -- Robert Hunter

My first show was the May '77 show in Tuscaloosa. My dad took me when I was 7 (we left at setbreak but I do vaguely remember it).

My last were the Bham shows in '95.

I saw about 5-6 in between, all in ATL in the early 90's and one Louisville show.

Jerry Week on Sirius last week was so great, loved all the interviews with the various people.

as taken from elsewhere:
I've uploaded 10gb of GD and JGB on this server. You can download shows and you can also upload your zip files to here also(I pretty much took up all the space allowed). I'm allowed 200gb of monthly data transfer. If people like this I will upload more in the future. It works on Mac and PC. The mp3's(320 bit rate) will work also on all music players besides itunes and ipods. Just use the download arrow on the far right of the page to DL the file you want.

LINK
http://idisk.mac.com/andrewlaidlaw-Public?view=web

All the files are "zip" files and all of them are tagged w/ song title, band name, date. Again this is a trial run and just wanted to see what bugs need to get fixed(namely if the tracks all show up in order not in random sequence) so there might be some errors

Here are the shows I uploaded this go around-All the shows are from the best sources out there. The Hampton and Winterland runs are from the Charlie Miller sources and highly recommended if you have not DL'ed the new upgrades on them.

Hey Now McGregor.... Looks like some tasty tunes on that list!!! I can personally vouch for the musical excellence of the 3 Grateful Dead shows from Oakland (Feb 25,26,27 1990) as I remember them like it was yesterday. Three exceptional shows, in particular the last night, where Michael Doucet and BeauSoleil layed down a smoking opening set, then returned to jam with the Dead later on during Iko Iko!!!
I was still quite young, and fresh to the Dead's music then (these were only my 9th+ shows) but I remember being struck at the interplay between the band during this period of time, especially between Garcia and Brent Mydland. The entire band was SO focused and driven in late 1989 and 1990, each performance seemed to bring out new levels of creative energy, and it was clear that the band was truely passionate about thier music once again....
I think about the music and magic that Garcia and the Grateful Dead brought into my life often, and look back at those times with much love...... Enjoy the Ride, Matthew

My first Dead show was as a member of the Marines! I was on leave and thumbing down to San Diego and this VW Microbus pulled over, Cowboy Neil was not at the wheel but there was a very cool head who miracled me a ticket so I could enjoy the ride for the first time. I then spent the rest of my leave with a group of people touring from CT. Up the coast then out to Lost Vegas and back home again AND managed somehow to pass the urinalysis test lol It was the poppy bagels I swear to ya. heh heh

Alpine 81 till Deer Creek 94, with about a hundred shows in between. Been listning to non-stop Dead on Archive.org as of late. Love that early Brent period.

All those shows I posted above are top-notch, sound quality is excellent. If you have the memory on your compuer and dig the Dead, get to work.

Matthew, I know you can't d/l shows with your computer so if you give me your email address and your mailing addy, I'll get some your way

Hey Now McGregor, as usual, you are incredibly thoughtful/generous!!! I would love a copy of the Oakland 2/27/90 show, as I have good copies of the other 2 nights (2-25,26-1990) and that would be wonderful..... If 1 or 2 of the JGB 1993 shows stand out, any of them would certain to be something I will treasure (I caught the Jerry Garcia Band live many times (25+) and those are all fond, cherished memories) but I know you are busy, so dont spend much time worring about me.... If you get the chance, listen to the 1990 Oakland Dead run, and I am sure you will agree that it was a great trio of performances!!! Much thanks from Utah, Matthew

It's kind of hard to believe that he's been gone this long, but I'm sure he's in a better place.

I saw the Grateful Dead many times over the years. The first time I saw them was in 1970. I met Pigpen that time. He was the only band member I ever talked to; a really nice guy.

One of my favorite shows was at Watkins Glen in 1973. I sort of disappeared for a few days. When I got back, I told my mom I'd gone camping with friends, which wasn't entirely untrue.

I didn't see them at all in the '90s. One thing I find disturbing nowadays is running into certain former fans here and there , the burned-out drug casualties who went from show to show for years and couldn't get off the bus, somehow. I ran into a guy like that this past weekend at a concert and he is in a really sad condition.

The day Jerry Garcia died, I went to the pool, got in a lap lane, and swam laps for 2 miles.
