'We Shall Not Be Moved'
Public invited to take part in Katrina video shoot Friday, August 08, 2008
Production crews and local musicians will assemble at Woldenberg Riverfront Park on Saturday to shoot a music video designed to show the world "a unified, joyful future for our city."
The "We Are the World"-style performance of the old spiritual "We Shall Not Be Moved," featuring John Boutté, Fredy Omar, Charmaine Neville and more than a dozen other New Orleans vocalists and musicians, is scheduled to premiere on the Web site YouTube.com on Aug. 29, the third anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.
Saturday's shoot, scheduled between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., is designed to capture locals as they "sing and dance in joyful unity" along with the musicians.
"Every New Orleanian is welcome," director Kevin Molony said in a press release. "It is important that everyone be represented: from dock workers to the social elite; from Zulu to Rex; from debutantes to Indians; from students to business leaders; from Uptown to the Lower 9 to Lakeview to the East."
