Description Amenities
Off the Record - Hotel Description
Rooftop terraces, charming courtyards, a lounging pool, distinctive architectural details and elegant rooms are what make this hotel a delight to stay at.

The hotel, in its heyday, was described in one newspaper article as "one of the grandest hotels in the Confederate States". During the Civil War, troops converted the stately hotel into a military hospital. Another story has it that one of the current first floor guest rooms was used as a meeting place for early plotters of the Texas Revolution.

Join us on your next visit to New Orleans, and see why the hotel is setting a new standard for New Orleans Boutique luxury hotels!

**There is a mandatory service charge of $8 per room per night payable by guest upon arrival to the hotel**

I think people just post on Trip Advisor to complain. I never know if they're right or just pains in the asses.

I pretty much found the overall averages of the ratings there to be true. I've posted really good stuff about places I like, and also complaints when things were not right. So if there are only a few complaints, it's probably OK. But if MOST of the ratings are bad, I'd believe it.

In this case, they were great or terrible. No in between. Never stayed on Magazine Street (or in the area). Can't decide. We talked to the Bourgoyne House on Bourbon as well.

This has caught us off guard since we thought we had a place already. Sorry, I'm just out of sorts.

Tripadvisor's great. I totally agree.

Treat TripAdvisor like Olympic gymnastics: Throw out the high and low scores to remove the East German Judge effect.

I find rather than just looking at the scores, it's much better to look at the text reviews and see just what the comments were. Specifics like "the bathtub was dirty" or "breakfast offered lots of nice choices" are useful.
