Looks like Guy Forsyth will be joining Sonny Landreth at the HOB on Sat. August 9th.This looks like a fun show .Guy is a great musician and showman ,I've never failed to be impressed at his shows and Sonny ,well we all know about Sonny.
Music heads-ups are always appreciated!
I can't make the Saturday show - my Mom's in town and Sonny isn't her style - but the Dallas area T Heads are familiar with Guy, and we're planning an outing to the fun side of the Metroplex the next weekend for Guy's gig at J&J's on the 16th. :)
BTW, Tcloud, how do you have only 28 posts?

Hey Now T-Cloud!!! Glad to hear you are enjoying a fine and funky Lone Star summer..... I caught the Subdudes here in Salt Lake over the weekend (along with the Iguanas, Buckwheat Z and Keb Mo) and the Subdudes put on an epic set. Those high harmonies are among the best around, and I hope you have a great time at thier gig.
I am still looking into coming back down for Austin City Limits, and while the lineup is not as strong (for my personal musical tastes) as it was in 06, I am sure it will be a blast.
If I decide to fly down, I will get in touch, so we can try and meet up and grab a cold one again at the festival. Take care, Matthew

I am headed to Austin this weekend to hit the live music scene in the 6th street area. Jimmy Vaughan at Antones and Carolyn Wonderland are in the plan. But anyone who has ever attended Jazzfest knows, plans have to stay flexible! We will probably just follow our ears. Haha! Gotta see the bats, and I want to visit the SRV statue. THe rest we will make up along the way.

Quoting Lyle Lovett:
"You say you're not from Texas
Man as if I couldn't tell
You think you pull your boots on right
And wear your hat so well
So pardon me my laughter
'Cause I sure do understand
Even Moses got excited
When he saw the promised land
... ... ... ... ... ... ...
Now David's on the radio
And old Champ's still on the guitar
And Uncle Walt he's home with Heidi
Hiding in her loving arms
They're OK in Oklahoma
Up in Arkansas they're fair
But those old folks in Missouri
They don't even know you're there
But at a dance hall down in Texas
That's the finest place to be
The women they all look beautiful
And their men will buy your beer for free..."
For the record: I am NOLA born and bred.
BUT: I did spend twelve plus years in Texas, all but one in Austin, so I will always love Texas. Heck: half my Jazz Fest krewe are from there...
Down here in FLA, we'll enjoy Carolyn Wonderland at WMNF's birthday bash next month... Looking forward to her, as every music-loving Texan I know raves about her. (And man, were they right about Ruthie Foster!)
Oh yesss.... Have fun yall, and take care up there. Peace.
