They played at Jazzfest in 2005 and were great from what I heard (I think I was doing my shift at Ms. Lena's beer tent during their set :()

There is some kind of anti-LLB sentiment here. I don't have any idea what it is about either. I enjoyed them the time I saw them and it's good to hear a new band playing rock and roll.

The sentiment is not anti-LLB...

We had an thread on the old board that degenerated into a free for all. One poster in particular railed against LLB... and his intolerance of others tastes cause much furor. Now when LLB is mentioned it brings back memories of that out-of-control, flame-filled thread.

I just remember seeing a lot of comments about them were met with groans when I first started here. It must have been the context of that thread and not the band itself.

No..no...I don't think is a current anti-LLB sentiment here. I for one like them. Back when they first played at fest, there was a certain poster who tended to go ballistic when discussing them. I mean, ballistic. If that thread was still around , it would make the worst "Nagin vs Blanco vs Dubya" discussion here look like a couple of conservatives and liberals sitting at the campfire singing "Kumbaya" together. Most of us, I believe, didn't understand why this rather pleasant band, with a sort of retro Allman, SRV feel to it, should engender such wrath. So the long running joke, is not about the Band actually, but how the mere mention of its name symbolizes a supreme "over-reaction".

I think the original post when they showed up in the cubes went something like this.

"Los Lonely Boys?!!@ Slowly I turned ... step by step ... inch by inch ..."

Exactly.

BTW, don't hesitate to ask about stuff like that. Sometimes we forget that the whole group hasn't been around throughout the history of the board... even though, personally, it seems like I've "known" you guys forever. :)

I just became a closet Los Lonely Boy fan, afraid to show my face around here.

I like LLB and didn't participate in that thread. It got really ugly very quickly.

Ouch! I am as guilty as anyone of keeping that joke alive (http://www.nojazzfest.com/chat/showthread.php?t=5752)...but, honest, no disrespect to the band is intended

you're too tall to get away with anonymity at any shows you go to, buddy! ;)

I used to get a little rankled when we'd play the old nugget "can I change my mind" to ho-hum response, then we'd bust out "Heaven" and every woman in the place would stampede in a mad rush to get to the dance floor - and I was pretty sure they were the same song, but that's just nit-pickin'...

Just like, never request I'm Cryin' by Stevie Ray Vaughn. Always ask for Pride and Joy instead.

Or Robert Johnson Dead Shrimp Blues just doesn't cut it with blues fans like Crossroads.

I think this was the post that started it all in '04, I will not mention the poster name. But we still need a fluffer at the HHR, if he's lurking and interested...

"Well, I certainly agree with Robert Randolph, B.B., Clapton, and Tower Of Power, but if I have to listen to Los Lonely Boys do their tired impression of Stevie Ray/Allman Bros., I'm gonna vomit."

That post never really existed; it was a myth induced by Rovian mind control rays.

I no whey? You are correct. '04 was when we had the Black Helicopters at JF. For me it all started with a water spray from an innocent looking bottle. But there was more behind this on that hot, hot, day, I think...
Is this when Rove dropped the dynamite behind the floodwalls? Things are starting to come together and pieces are falling into place. TY Lit :)

Raymond Shaw played with Los Lonley Boys. He was spectacular.

Sirs!!! Mr Tabasco. Was there a sighting of my beloved Ignatius in the audience with his new partner Dick. Dick is a LLB Groupie who after losing his online job was rumored to be following LLB around the country.

LOL!! **SNORT** Anything that brings my beloved Myrna out of the woodwork is OK by me!!! :D

We might trade in Lyle Lovett tickets for Los Lobos. It would make things a lot easier with the kids and then we can catch Rosie Ledet Sat. night.
