If you're going to the NOLA Mardi Gras, try to catch my boys from Boston - the Revolutionary Snake Ensemble - marching with the Krewe of Muses on 2/15 or at Circle Bar on 2/13 (with "special local guests" on tuba and trombone).

A few of us "locals" might participate in Mardi Gras too!:)

Well, my choices would be:
Feb.16th- The Rads and Johnny Sketch at Tips. Great deal and a great location with great bands!!
Feb. 17th- (i'm going to the Dumpstaphunk/Cowboy Mouth show at HOB)
Since you didn't pick that, I'd see Soul Rebels at Cafe Brasil and then bounce around Frenchmen St. which will be hopping....
Feb. 18th-WITHOUT A DOUBT THIS ONE!!! Souls of NOLA Mardi Gras Soiree' featuring: Anders Osborne, Big Chief Monk Boudreaux, Hot 8 Brass Band, Papi Mali, Rich Vogel and Robert Mercurio. One Eyed Jacks. $18 advance and $20 at the door.
Feb. 19th- George Porter, Jr. w/ Bonerama. Howlin' Wolf at 10pm-No Cover
Feb. 20th- Frenchmen Street at night....nuff said :)
Don't forget about the Zulu Lundi Gras Fest all day at Woldenberg Park off Decatur at the river. Great bands, great food and fun, fun, fun....FREE :)

Damn!!!! Y'all are going to be busy...
Theme song.... Great Warren Zevon song.....
So much to do, there's plenty on the farm
I'll sleep when I'm dead
Saturday night I like to raise a little harm
I'll sleep when I'm dead
I'm drinking heartbreak motor oil and Bombay gin
I'll sleep when I'm dead
Straight from the bottle, twisted again
I'll sleep when I'm dead
Well, I take this medicine as prescribed
I'll sleep when I'm dead
It don't matter if I get a little tired
I'll sleep when I'm dead
I've got a .38 special up on the shelf
I'll sleep when I'm dead
If I start acting stupid
I'll shoot myself
I'll sleep when I'm dead
So much to do, there's plenty on the farm
I'll sleep when I'm dead
Saturday night I like to raise a little harm
I'll sleep when I'm dead

Saw this the other day and forgot to post it:
"The New Orleans City Council on Thursday gave up its quest to return the Krewe of Endymion to its traditional Mid-City route this year, acquiescing in Mayor Ray Nagin's decision that the superkrewe should parade Uptown because of a shortage of police officers."

I know, it's killing me, too. It's bad enough to miss MG in NOLA, but I'm also missing it in my hometown of St. Louis---first time I've missed any MG in 16 years. My body is in shock. I will just have to make up for it by having twice the fun at Fest.
