Do we qualify as a 501c3 organization? I have a friend who is having a grand donated in her name, she's out in Denver, but from here and wants the money to go to New Orleans, but it has to be a 501c3, not for profit, organization. Can this work for us???

Thanks.

I believe threadheads.org and/or fest4kids are currently in the process of getting this designation. Not yet for Threadhead Records.

It took our Mardi Gras Krewe three years to get our 501c3, but we weren't in a hurry. Lotta work, as much or more than starting a business.
I've heard that LA is easier than some states and harder than some. And because I was on the BoD for a few years I can say that it is hard work, and can be a real bitch. But also very rewarding in many, many ways. Non-profit is what you want to do, not what you have to do. Cool.

And here's a resource:

Hee hee, nutrias :)

Like Chris said, we are in the process of getting a 501c3, but don't know when it coul happen. However, Silence is Violence/the kid's music clinic do have one & the money could go directly to them.

I'll talk to you about it at your house tomorrow night at the potluck! :)

Thanks. That's a big reason we are working to get the designation. There is a lot of corporate charity money floating around out there that can only be donated to 501 orgs. We hope to have this in place before next Fest season...
