Shamarr was featured it the first episode of This Old House in New Orleans. He was in couple of others, I think. They showed his home early on construction. It was fascinating. The pile drivers were the coolest thing I've ever seen on TOH. But I digress.
The Village is becoming a nucleus for revival, I hope. They're starting with strong homes, strong families, strong roots to the community they once had and want to rebuild. God Bless them all.
And a nice piece of art glass in every Village home ;)

A hardworking guy like Shamarr deserves/has earned the right to be in the front line of revival. Very cool all the way around. As the article suggests, Shamarr has the talent to make it in many others places but instead is willing to rebuild and give back to the city and its culture just when it needs it the most. This is what makes New Orleans very special to those of us who can only visit it so often...that there are so many talented people involved in the culinary fields, music, arts (and contemporary crafts!) who, despite the hassles that recovery presents to them, continue to create the cultural magic that defines New Orleans.
And you are absolutely right, God Bless them all.

Has a chance to drive by last time I was in town, the village looks cool. Course I had no idea which house was Shamarr's but I was thinking about it. May the village and all its inhabitants prosper and may the music flow....

You can send it to me & I'll give it to him or I can give you his address & you can send it to him directly. If you want to send it to him directly, wait a bit. They still haven't paved the street, so he'snotmoving in till August probably.
